Here's the thing. We have a MASSIVE Gelert Corvus 6+2, which we totally love, best purchase we have ever made. It's a real home from home on longer camping holidays and we've been blown away by how good it is.
However, because of its size and the faff of setting it up, I don't see us ever having a spontaneous weekend away. So I really want to get a "weekend" tent, that we can put up in a few minutes, but still have enough space for the 4 of us and some basic equipment.
Hubby says this is ludicrous, no-one has more than one tent and it would be a ridiculous waste of money.
Anyone have any views they would care to share.....??
Best not ask me, I've got eleven tents . Everything from my humungous trailer tent to a one man mountain tent. I've even got three different sizes of the same tent (Vango Oregon 400, 600 and 800) It's only sensible to have different tents for different purposes, surely? Tell your OH it's extremely common to have at least two tents, a short stop weekender type and a long stay tent.

We said this! However one weekend trip my hubbie could not come with us because of work commitments, I decided me and the little one wasn't missing out but I really didn't want to take the big tent for just the two of us, one short shopping trip on the Internet later I was the proud owner of a Icarus 500 and love it! Best thing is we have had a couple of spontaneous trips away and we have taken the Icarus with us for all three of us and hubbie now loves having the option of choosing which tent to take! Watch out tent buying is addictive, we are looking at buying another...!!
I must say, I really like the look of the Vango Icarus. It would do the job perfectly. Trouble is, if I ever DID manage to convince DH that we need another, he would probably insist on it being one of those £59.99 ones that Go Outdoors currently have in their sale.....
Sorry I couldn't help having a laugh when I read your post , I do a lot of my camping on my own and have 6 tents, every one serves a different purpose.
One night, summer hot weather tent, winter tent, really small pop up for instant camping, slightly larger pop up with sitting space/porch and the trailer tent for family trips.
depending on what that particular camp is going to be like I take the best tent to suit the situation.
Get your hubby on here. We will all put him straight. At the moment we have only got one tent. Sold our weekend tent last week. But got new bell tent arriving tomorrow, cant wait to smell and stroke it.
Buy the new smaller tent as a play area for the children, and then just happen to take it instead of the big tent to those short and snappy weekend camps.
We've been camping 16 months and have bought 4 tents in that time.

I've been on two camping trips and have two tents, a large 6 berth for family camping, an Icarus 500 for just the missus and I/one of us with kids.
I'm planning on getting a small 3 berth (Vango Gamma 300) for solo camping and a Gamma 200 for solo cycle/backpacking. So by the end of the year I will have 4 tents. The missus also wants a pitch and go for.... No conceivable reason...
