Hi Jay
Only think I suggest is get a partner!!
Why would you want to pitch such a big tent on your own anyway?

All 3 Montys can be pitched solo, and with practise it becomes easier. As with any of these, its basically finding the right method. I have done all 3 of mine on my own, but I wouldn't say its the easiest thing to do.------------- Steve

Fantastic - owning a Monty is now a learning experience, not just a peice of nylon and steel. We have tests to pass and life goals to aim for...
It is like in the Kung Fu series.... "now grasshopper you will show your ability to put up the tent single handed..."

I've found that the Monty's require 'setting up' first. If I set up the outer shape and place the poles through (remember to ensure the front doors are partially open to aloow air in when raising, then pull up from either end (front/back), pin these in using the guy ropes only. Repeat at the opposite end and then strertch everything out afterwards. If you need to adjust the guy ropes again its easy.

Thanks guys
Fi - used to have a partner b4 I bought another tent!
Any real pitching methods tho, I found it extremely difficult to raise the rear section (might not of helped that the poles were bent in the first place!)

2 of the roof sections are twisted and 1 main pole is bowed. The tent looked a sorry sight and no amount of guying could disguise it

OK - I've been pestering everybody on the forum for tips on erecting an M6 so that it's easy when we have to do it in anger.
So, this afternoon I co-opted the 14 year old daughter (the one pulling my ears on the left here) and we experimented.
Tried all the methods - from the front, from the back, legs in, legs out and shake it all about... do the .. oh blow - mind's wandering again...
And - the best way for us, with limited horsepower, was to put in all the arch poles, put legs on the front and back only, put them on the pins, lift the back and lean it forward a little so it's stable with a temporary guyline pegged.
Then lift the front and peg out a guy.
Then put the legs onto the middle two arch poles.
Then straighten everything out, moving the feet of the poles.
Then it's ready to continue final pegging.
We found this to be by far the easiest way.
Now - even with all this experimenting we still got it ready to final-peg within 30 mins. - so I reckon 30 mins or less would see it up and sorted.
Hope this helps y'all-------------

PS
If you find the pins hard to get into the poles, pull the fabric tube containing the arch pole well towards you. That sorted it for us.-------------
