I bought a tent from Tentastic last week a rage alto 4dx any way I got an e-mail from tentastic informing they could not deliver on time. I rang the number that was sent with the e-mail surprisingly it was constantly engaged make of that what you will. Not detered I found another number on there website and got through.
The girl I spoke with was really nice and tried to sell me a replacement I was not interested and asked for a refund. The girl said I will have to speak to my manager. This she did and informed me if I left 5 star feed back on e-bay I would recieve a full refund. This I have done typing in the words (I have left 5 star feedback). I have now recieved a full refund after a couple more times of telephoning tentastic. I have informed e-bay of this is that normal practice? Hmmm! lesson learnt.
What a nerve ! thats feedback extortion . They basically blackmailed you into giving good feedback before refunding on a tent they couldn't supply.
I wonder ho many of their other feedback scores have been got this way.
can you still add a comment? I know the feedback system has changed recently, but you used to be able to add another comment after the feedback was left.
the trouble is that people look at the feedback, and it seems okay, but its usually been left before the tents have fallen apart.
That company is one to be avoided at all costs.
but the good news is you've had a lucky escape.
Their tents are not very reliable, only the odd one or two have been happy with them, there a loads of horror stories about them here.
That is not normal practice and I am glad you have reported it to ebay. You could have refused and opened a dispute on ebay. If you paid by paypal you could report it to them and they will refund your money and then take it back from the seller.
This is known as 'Feedback Manipulation' and is not allowed on eBay:
"Feedback left or received where the feedback’s primary value is to artificially enhance a member’s reputation rather than provide commentary on genuine transactional experience is not permitted.
Consequently, offering to sell, buy or barter feedback is not permitted. In addition, registering multiple accounts (or working with others) in order to exchange feedback to artificially increase your feedback score is not permitted.
Breaches of this policy can result in a range of actions, including:
*Listing cancellation
*Limits on account privileges
*Account suspension
*Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings
*Loss of PowerSeller status
*Feedback removal"
Good you reported it and I wonder how many others have been dealt the same deal ?
I just wonder how much notice ebay will take of this practice on a busy ebay trader.... they are getting thousands of punds worth of fees off this seller and have been known to turn a blind eye to the ones making them a lot of money!!
The rules there are enough to put off some smaller trader with less experience, however the big ones who sell constantly and are getting 20-30 feedback a day, are less likley to be banned....
I just want to add that we have a Rage Alta 6 which we bought from Tentastic and think it's a fab tent. When items are in stock you get next day delivery which we thought was very good.
Can't say I like what they did about the feedback issue but just wanted to let you know from someone who actually owns a Rage tent that we think it's a great tent.
If you paid via pay-pal, you were protected, heres what you should have done.
1/ open a dispute via pay-pal for goods not recieved (the seller will have to prove delivery not dispatch - ie a royal mail signed for reciept).
2/ the seller is in breach of ebay policy by listing goods they do not have available for sale!
3/ leave them negative feedback if you feel their service is not up to scratch, it will not affect you grievance in any way or affect your entitlement to a refund via pay-pal. ( they will bend over backwards to get you to withdraw it) & sellers are now unable to leave tit 4 tat feedback.
Basicly the seller didn't have a leg to stand on & I think you have let a bad seller get away with a serious breach of ebay policy.
im sorry i disagree with paypal, they are the worst when things go wrong, you have less rights and less protection with paypal than you do with a credit card. see here

i only use paypal for small items because there not worth the hassel.
I've never had bad luck with paypal and have always been issued a refund where requested and some were large ticket items.
If you look at that paypal sucks website, most of it customers finding their accounts have been emptied. You have to be a savvy person to navigate with paypal. Most of those will be people who received fake emails asking for password updates. The emails look legit and so many fall for it, then they blame paypal.
As for the feedback, you can have it removed, just type in ebay abuse feedback into google and it should pull it up and then follow the prompts to have it removed. It is against ebay policy.
Ebay has changed the rules on feedback being left for buyers and always had the retaliation negative feedback if the buyer left negative for the seller. No longer can the seller leave negative or neutral feedback for the buyer and it's against policy to leave a positive mark with negative words. It's a lose lose situation and feedback no longer stands for anything. I sold a pushchair to a lady who never showed up and then claimed I never emailed her. I put in for non payment for a mutual agreement. She denied it and even stated what I put in my email. Anyway, she was so mad, she left me negative feedback. Ruined my 100% built up over 7 years....The kicker is, she never paid, never showed up and never returned emails after I reported her. She has since replied to my followup that she was sorry and must have had problems with her email. Still ebay refuses to remove it. It's a bad system that will send sellers away and the ironic thing is, ebay introduced this because they were losing buyers. Stupid ebay!

Pay-Pal give buyers 100% protection, you will find that the paypalsucks website is run by sellers who don't wish to offer their buyers that protection because they are either scammers or don't want to pay the fees - in my experience they are mostly scammers. If you pay by cheque or postal order you have no buyer protection at all & why would you wish to give to credit card details to any Tom Dick or Harry on ebay.
