Just bought a 2nd hand caravan, it has a wheel lock which is very awkward to fit. I want to replace it with another wheel lock or hitchlock or both?
Please can you advise which hitchlocks & wheel locks are good. I am not looking at spending hundreds of pounds on locks. I appreciate that if someone really does want to take your caravan they probably will.
You can pick up second hand stuff from gumtree or the local ads or evan car boot sales. My wheel lock is hard to get on and off but then i can put up with that for security,
thanks guys i have a wheel lock i hd to jack up the van to get the wheel arch clearance to fit it. Missed out on a hitchlock on ebay will get one to keep insurance happy & caravan safe
If you have not got clearence below the wheel arch this may be due to the van sitting all the time on its wheels. The suspension is rubber and i found if you jack the body up on the axle and have the wheels off the ground, the rubber suspension will take its original shape and the van will sit higher when lowered back onto its wheels.Do this when its layed up for the winter.
thankyou, justt missed a bulldog hitchlock for a tenner on ebay. Just realised, need to check what tow hitch i have to make sure what i buy is compatible. I have a alko hitch with stabilser but think i need to find out the model before i buy a hitch lock!!!
