Not being fluent in german/dutch...but it says the weight is 38kg as opposed to the BL weighing in at 57kg, so presume material and poles differs quite a bit?

nice alternative though, as shape/dimensions appears the same

the BL poles are alloy..

the increased weight of these tents has been offset by the use of 19mm aluminium alloy poles throughout rather than heavier steel as in the other Outwell ranges

That explains weight difference.

The groundsheet could also make a difference.

How thick/heavy is the BL one?

If I remember correctly (dont put money on what I remember lol) the Safrica one wasnt heavy/rubbery.

Never really thought about this until this weekend when we compared 2 pyramids of almost the same size and one is heavier and a larger packsize. They are both the same grade ten cate cotton so it must be the groundsheets as we did notice the difference over the weekend.

Am I missing something or is this one's outer polyester as opposed to the Bear Lakes Polycotton?

Otherwise very nice and if I had seen this before I got the Bear Lake......actually I would have still got the Bear Lake as I wanted polycotton.

Nice tent though and reasonably priced at 399 Euros (which is about the same in Sterling).

Angie/other Dutch speakers  - any indication as to whether it has a SIG or a ZIG or detached groundsheet?
