Hi, finally had our first camping trip, we went to Woodhouse Farm near Ripon for just 1 night, and I was pleasantly suprised at how well it went. Our Vango Karakum 2+2 pop up served it's purpose of being really easy to put up, but we were offically the 2nd smallest tent in the site, but the smallest tent only had one person in, not 2 adults and 2 little girls!!.
Anyway, the tent had a small fault, so I took it back to Go Outdoors, but thought I'd be cheeky and ask if I could exchange for another tent, so I got the Nevada 3 for only an extra £20. The title says it all really, I don't know which of these to canopies I should buy, I can see from the posts that both can be used, but I 'm presuming 1 may be a bit better than the other?

As fostermum has noted on another current thread, the Vango canopy does have windows. If you look at her thread you will see two photographs of her setup. That slight difference in width between the canopy and tent is not a major issue because you leave gaps between the canopy and the tent.

Thanks for keeping me in the loop Former Scout, think I'm going to have a go a pitching it in the garden now. Does your Aztec Canopy have the same depth as the Vango, as that just seems a big when really all I'm wanting is a glorified umbrella to keep the rain off the door!! unless its the perspective of the photos making it look bigger than it is

Hi Former Scout - I've dithered about this for a week now and ordered the Aztec last night, partly on your recommendation on another thread. I do like the set up of the Vango and it looks good in Fostermum's photos and I especially like the windows but it is wider and bigger and that worried me.
Thewper - these are the dimensions:
Aztec: width 250cm, length 300cm, height 200cm
Vango large canopy: width 310cm, length 300cm, height 310cm
There is also a smaller Vango canopy but I think this is too small.
I spent ages on the net last night trying to find these dimensions and finally thought the Vango was just too big really.
Sorry Former Scout - I should have said thank you for your advice and recommendation on this dilemma and also for the huge amount of advice you have posted to other people - it is a massive help for a newbie like me and I'm not sure how I would have managed without it - probably make lots of expensive mistakes!
Fab thanks Kizzie01, but after a failed attempt at trying to put the tent up on my own (I'm a clueless newbie) I figure I'd better drag my husband and tent to my inlaws bigger garden and get the blinkin tent up before I get the canopy!!

I think that the depths of the two are very similar. Effective depth depends on how much overlap of then and canopy you allow.
I managed to put mine up on my own a couple of nights ago, but struggled because I only have a tiny garden - no room to lay the poles out before threading - they kept getting stuck under the fence on both sides! I'd laugh about it if I wasn't been so stroppy!
Getting it back in the bag is a different story altogether!!
I've also since read on here (should have done that first LOL!) the different ways people put them up and also the videos on youtube. I couldn't find the Nevada 3 on youtube, but if you put in Outwell loads come up and you can see what they do. Big help for a newbie like me also.

I have also read lots of posts on here on how people put their tents up (should have done this first of course!) and also looked at the videos on youtube. I couldn't find a Nevada 3 one but if you put in Outwell there are lots of videos - It was a big help for a newbie like me.

Thank you, its very much appreciated.

You are more than welcome. We were all new to this at one time and I use this forum partly to offer a little help to those at the beginning of their camping lives and partly to pick up on more information for myself.
Anyway, I'm off for a few days during which I'll be trying out the Nevada 3. Here's hoping.
Anne I'm so impressed you did it yourself, I was just saying on fostermums thread that the ends of my poles kept getting clogged up with muck from my borders!
Could you explain how you did it? I'll be gutted if I can't do it myself eventually, as really my husband isn't into camping and it'd be great to think that I didn't need his help once I've got the knack, in the meantime I will look at the outwell videos on you tube cos itll probably be the weekend when I go to my inlaws for round 2!
