some camping and caravanning club sites are for members only.it is worth joining though.at the moment if you subscribe to Camping Magazine, you get free membership of the c&cc. and you get the mag for a year.
See this thread for details of the Camping Magazine offer.
Yes, you can stay at most, if not all, C&C Club Sites as a non member but there will be an additional pitch fee of £7+ per night, which would obviously be more than the cost of a year's membership if you were staying for at least six nights. I'm sure the wardens (sorry, Holiday Site Managers!) would be pleased to advise you on the best option. (You could join on arrival at a Club Site, at some Certificated Sites - where you would need to be a member, or at some Temporary Holiday Sites, where again you would either need to be a member or the guest (nominal additional charge) of an existing member.)
As a member, I think it's worth the £40, but you will get differing opinions on this forum!
If someone is a member of the C + CC - it might be worth seeing if they can recommend you.
I know the CC give vouchers out to members that recommend new members but not sure if the C + CC do the same - I think you both benefit not just the member making the recommendation.
I think you get lots of other benefits of being a member in addition to the cheap pitch fees.

Since we have become members of the C&CC, we have discovered their Certificated Sites, and think it's worth the subscription to be able to use them. And as a bonus I enjoy the magazine every month, also the Big Sites Book has thousands of sites round the country.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
