Admin, reveiw submited. Been back home a week, sorry its a bit late. Had a great time at Fforest Feilds. Took our latest air beam tent. So no glamping with the Bell tent this time. The tent behaved well, although apart from 1 heavy downpour and a couple of breezy days it really wasnt tested much. 12 nights and the airbeams didnt need any extra air for the whole time. So a few pics of Ff, tent and days out.
Walked up the hill to get this shot of the campsite.
Front door veiw.
Few of the Vango Lumen 500
Hendra falls. Apart from this it was a waste of time.
On the river Wye
Powys Castle.
I have loads but heres just a few of some of the other places we visited, none were more than an hour or so drive from camp.
Hay on Wye. Famous for 2nd hand books, nearly every shop and cafe sold them. Then walk down to the river to a place called the Warren.
Just a few more of campsite. A relly lovely place. Give it a go would be my advice. Dont be bothered about traveling a bit further out theres hardly any traffic about, well at least thats what we found anyway.
And to round things off, it was great to meet a fellow ukcs member. Nice to have met you ferret lady. (I know your name now. )
Great photos as usual Geoff
Glad your over your op mate and back out camping

Superb! Wondered when you'd finally get around to posting!
Looks like you did a fair bit of strolling around, and not all on the flat either! Seems you're in the peak of health... well, you know what I mean!
Looks like you had decent weather too, which is always a bonus.
In the time you've took to have this holiday and get the photo's up, we've done a total of 4 nights... and brought a wet tent home... twice!
Tent looks good, although I must say, I prefer the Bell, of course. Still managed to glamp it up a bit, I see.
How did the inflation go? Was it manual or leccy pump?... and who did the inflating?
Did it feel weird going back to "separate rooms"? It did for us, at Easter.
Just realised... is that a hardstanding you're on, or just a bald patch in the grass?
So pleased you both had a great holiday, and appreciate the time and effort taken to post yet another great pic-fest.

Cheers p+k. I celebrated the 1st anniversary of the op while we were there and it did cross my mind to put a pic of then & now on here, just to give anyone on here who was going through the same thing encouragement, but Im not sure about it.
Mucker, To be honest it made quite a nice change to be back in what I would call a normal type tent, and being able to slob it a little. The bell is a fantastic place to be in once GW has worked her magic on it but you do loose that bit of back to basics feeling. Although you do miss that nice cool airy feel you get inside the Bell due to its height. Used a hand pump on the airbeam and no big deal pumping by hand, although the pumps feel a bit flimsy, thats why we got a spare pump as well. It wasnt hardstanding it was all weather and I really liked it, just a thin crust of pea shingle type layer, then thru to firm soil underneath peice of cake getting pegs in and out.
Thankyou Geoff, was lovely meeting you both too! Tracey i too was wondering where to get to the river Wye.
Back again for us Sept 5th for a week. Daughter and fiance coming with their van as well. Just hope she doesn't go into labour (she'll have 2 weeks to go)!
Kate assures me she could deliver her on site!
------------- Enjoy life while you can, none of us know what's round the corner!
Thanks ladies. ferret lady, the pics of the river with all the rocks were taken at Erwood station which was about 15 minutes away. You take the riverside walk not the walk through the picnic area. Look for the old steam train at the station then you know you are there and the path down is just to the front of the train (see pic)
Tracy the pics by the river were at Hay on Wye at a place called the Warren. We just parked in town and asked a local for a nice place to walk to by the river and thats where we were told is nice. It took about 15-20 mins to walk but well worth it. It has a stoney beach there so good for the dogs and you to paddle or swim. We dont have a dog that pic was of someone else.
Watch out for the odd naturist though.
Thanks Geoff, we always visit Hay for lunch, an icecream and a walk round the shops but didn't know you could get down to the river, that looks beautiful.
Erwood Station looks good for us too. We drove down to it once before but it looked pretty deserted so came away again!

Tracy if you fancy a climb when you go to Erwood station. On the other side of the road there is a nice hill you can take a slow stroll up to get some great veiws of surrounding area. We walked down to the river then up the hill same day with a picnic at the station. I must be mad.
And theres a little hut at the foot of the hill selling fresh eggs, with an honesty box for payment, and yes we did pay for ours.
Thanks Geoff that looks stunning. There used to be a hut with fresh eggs and honesty box in on the road from Fforest Fields to Builth but it wasn't there when we went last year.
