OK here's the chicken in skillet to give you an idea of size:
With lid on:
And nearly cooked, chicken was upside down here as I was trying to brown the top a bit more (note to self to brown chicken more initially):
And here's chicken on plate:
And the verdict......delicious, really flavoursome, probably the moistest chicken I have ever had! The meat just fell off the bone. The roasties were lovely and crisp too.
Have never done a whole chicken in ours, but have done chicken breasts, roast pots, couple of parsnips, onion & carrot... al ovely roast combination mmmmmmmmmm makes me hungry thinking about it
I'm certainly thinking along the same lines as you GeorgeB, I still can't get over how low you have the heat and yet how much heat there is in the skillet - very impressed with it
I've never used it at home, must experiment more.......... but I must admit I never go camping without it, had it so long could do with a new one now as I've probably been a bit careless with utensils and scratched it
I had been looking at saucepan sets for camping but really don't like the clip on handles of any of them. I bought the Outwell pan set last year and chucked it out a few days ago, the handles drove me nuts!
So now I have the double skillet and a regular milk pan (£1.50 from tesco) - job done and all with lovely handles
i`ve just bought the red coleman pans.....in the box on the table, next to the athena annexe.both just been delivered.... need to put them all away before OH gets home!!!

You're terrible - where did you hide them??
Annexe is in Small girls wardrode, pans are still in the car......
