Looks a job well done to me, mate. Although, unless the pic is deceiving, I get the impression that she may have been able to bring it a little further forward, giving a little more shelter? If she needed/wanted to, that is. (Maybe she deliberately covered the whole tent for added protection/shade?)
Certainly looks good... and one certainly wouldn't have guessed that she was having her ankles bitten from all directions!!
You might be right about bringing it forward a bit. She has got a late departure tomorrow, and she is camped not too far from us. Plus I am allowed to drive from tomorrow, so we are going to see her for a couple of hours. I will pass on your suggestion tactfully of course.

My tarp has been up in the garden since Saturday. Used 5 king poles. It also saw two weeks service this month in Normandy. Will post pics when have time to upload to photobucket.
We have just purchased the Euro hike tarp from Black's. Not had chance to put it up yet but will post pics once I do. The size is quite good 325cm x 325cm. NOT the 325mm it says on the bag. Who needs a waterproof tea towel!:-)
2x2metre poles with it. Hopefully ok for £30

My NEW tarp will be up in 4 weeks. In fact 4 weeks today we wil be packing the car for the Naismith TDF 2014. If I wa buying a tarp for the UK I would have bought the Vango in black. I bought a large cream one for use as a sun shelter....and I digress at this point but I am sure someone will have some wsidom to impart.
Being a female and always up for romantic ambience, I purchased a 4m strig of beautiul fabric solar powered lanterns (IKEA), my OH pointed out " how are you goig to attached them to the tarp" mmmmm, pegs I guess but I cannot fnd any clear ones, so I'm thinking alongthe lines of those tiny craft pegs that people use for hanging Christmas cards...if anyone has a better idea, pray tell me. I had a look on the Hobby craft website and saw some ladybird pegs taht ooked quite sweet.

One of my colleagues makes cards (those awful kit things), any way bless her she is giving me some hobby pegs with tiny ladybirds on......
Once in situ en Provence I will take some photographs and post them on the blog. I doubt we'll bother during the first few days in Savigny les Beaune will be a chill and aclimatize stop.

Would have been a nice idea, but my daughter got a call at 8am this morning to say her cat had been run over. So she is packing up and heading home. Luckily the cat was micro chipped so the vet new who to call. Im so glad we havn`t got pets.

It did have a bit of damage from an aggressive clingon but a square of gaffa sorted that.
What make/model tarp is that Ewen, it looks perfect for what we need.

Just had a mini storm in the back garden. It came out of nowhere and now has calmed down again.
L shaped RIP in the tarp sorted with Coghlans patches.
I think I will keep this one for the garden and get another the same for the tent. It has survived quite a few gusts over a few trips but this was obviously a bit too strong.

Just noticed the price has gone up by 20 quid since I bought it. It cost me €30 and now it is €52. Time to hunt for something the same size but cheaper. I can get a dd tarp for about that price.
Since my last post I have been searching for another tarp 5x5m same as my blue one. The only one is a kelty Noah's tarp which comes in at double the price, has no poles and it isn't blue.....
However, It has 4 grommets and 12 guy points so no clingons required.

Can anyone recommend a good tarp for a family of five?
I've got a Decathlon £20 tarp which has two too short poles and L-shaped pegs which swing round in the ground.
As I mostly want to use the tarp when it's raining it needs to be able to withstand wind. Is that all down to the ability of the pitcher, or are some products more substantial than others?
If I start using more than two poles will it be more likely to fall down?
Have a look at Obelink, we bought a 'beauty' for our Provence trip (in 2 weeks).
Obelink are a Belgian based company, so you need to do a 'google' search.
The Belgians and Dutch seem much more in-une with camping equipement on a larger scale than we have, and the quality seems much better . A) I could not find a sun tarp in the UK at all B) the tarps I did find were relatively tiny i.e. Vango.
If you want some thing to act as a shelter over say a dining area i.e. more than just a shelter for the entrance I suggest you do a wider search thanthe UK companies.
We also have the Decathlon one at £20 but as its green (doesn't match this tent) and absolutley no good in the sun we bought another one We pais about £60 and it had been reduced from £112.
