Is your car a diesel?. If so you need to finely filter the oil to get rid of all food deposits, probably will have to bye a heater to fit in your fuel tank, maybe change the head of your engine, tell the tax man.....thet list goes on & on & on. Not really worth it. Then again you could go to Tescos or Makro or somewhere were they sell cheap veg oil and just use that, but contact your dealer first to see what changes to engine you would have to make.

No my car isn't diesel but it just sounds such a good way of recycling old chip fat I would be interested in doing something about it. Guy on the programme said about having to pay tax on it - which does sound absolutely mad to me - you are re-using stuff which would otherwise have been dumped.
I don't think you can ues old chip fat, only decent quality cooking oil. You need certain parts to fit into the fuel line and some sort of heater fitted to the tank to stop it blocking up the lines....also the car smells like a portable fish and chip van!...Floyd.
we used to run our discovery m reg 300 tdi on asdas own cooking oil half and half with diesel was cheaper too we had no problems my brotherinlaw runs his on oil too no probs we used bio diesel too we got to know that local police filled up there too lol and most taxi drivers
We run our pajero on veg oil or waste oil have done for a year and its brilliant,OH converted it last year and we have been to france and Spain using veg oil. Could only get sunflower oil in Spain so car smelt like waffles lol normally smells like chips. Oh was doing some work on it and its the cleanest he has ever seen a engine look . We are now going to convert our Mitsubishi Delica as well.
Round here the Bio diesel costs more than the normal and I don't think it's a very high percentage of vegetable oil anyway.
When "heavy oil" engines were first invented it was done so that the third world countries could have reliable transport that they could produce their own fuel for rather than being reliant on importing from oil rich countries. (Or so I read somewhere) Ah, found it "When Rudolph Diesel, who invented the engine that bears his name, showed it at the 1900 World's Fair, he declared that his engine could be fueled by peanut oil and thus farmers could grow their own energy source."
I really don't understand why our Government doesn't encourage the use of vegetable oil for transport. Then our farmers could benefit instead of the rich OPEC countries.
There's quite a few websites that tell you how to do it:
i ran my peugeot on veg oil and diesel mix 50/50 no problem and no mods done. don't use chip shop fat as it will go solid in the tank . they use what is called fallow and goes solid .
