We would have visited the show, but would have to bring our dogs with us and leave them in the car. Just checked out the parking charge - about £25 for the day, so we won't be going!
For anyone happy to leave their car, you can park at Crumpsall tram stop for free, which is not too far from the M60, then go in on the tram or bus. Bus free for pass holders, tram inexpensive and frequent.

Just ask if you need more info.
Thank you for the information. We would happily use the tram but we would need to let the dogs out to stretch their legs every so often so it's not really practical for us. From that point of view it was much better when the show was at the exhibition place by the Trafford Centre.
Alternatively, you can park for free at the Trafford Centre, as long as you avoid the new VIP section, and catch the tram from there into Manchester. They run every 12 mins or less. This tram currently terminates at Castlefield stop, just outside Manchester Central arena, but just check that you don't have to change at Cornbrook, the previous stop, dead easy.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
