What Did we Think? Our Review
I finally took my first motorbike camping trip, just the one night to start with this first time and was looking for a suitable tent.
Size and weight were important to me as the storage space was very limited, so the Mont Moondance 2FN looked very promising as it weighs 2kg with the main tent sack measuring 33cm x 15cm and the collapsed poles were 49cm. Small enough to fit in my bikes storage box with lots of space for the rest of my gear.
After a long(ish) ride to the site, getting a tent up quickly and easily was the next most important on my list.
The instructions were straightforward to read. At first I was wondering why the instructions were separate and not attached to the tent itself (like my larger tent) but as I assembled then later dissembled the tent, I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to set-up. No different coloured pieces or tags, and the poles were easy to setup as they had the shock cords in place. Plus, it was a symmetrical design so it didn't mater which way up the poles were used.
For someone who's familiar with tents, it took around 8 mins to fully assemble for the first time which included reading the instructions.
The stakes were excellent quality lightweight Y-Shaped with cords (instructions referred to them as t-bone) - unsure if they were aluminium or titanium but they worked well in a very hard/dry floor. They held in the ground well and were easy to remove the next day.
Camping solo, and at a height of just over 5ft7, the space in the tent was good. Zippers were easy enough to open and close and the quality of the material and build gave me confidence that I could use this tent several times.
Weather was good, hot with little/no breeze on this first time, so I slept well with no flapping and no wind noise.
Packing up was easy enough, though I did have to re-fold the inner tent due to the location of the pole repair sleeve that was fixed inside the tent seam. Not an issue, just one to remember for next time.
Overall, I was very pleased with this biking/hiking tent and I'm looking forward to camping with it again soon!
