We were asked to look at these two head torches, one budget and one top end. There's a big difference in price between the Easy Camp Yarara Head Torch and Robens Cross Fell Head Lamp, but they could both have their place in your camping kit, with some great features on the pricier lamp.
Easy Camp Yarara Head Torch - RRP £4.29
This is a budget headlamp which is great for camping and being used
around the campsite at night, whether you are cooking, trying to find the
tent zip or using it for that late night dash to the toilet facilities. It
runs off two CR2032 batteries, so carrying spare ones is easy and takes up
very minimal space. The back simply pops off and you can replace the
batteries. This headlamp is simply switched on with a button on the top and
it also has an adjustable headband making it a comfortable fit for all head
sizes. The EasyCamp Yarara Head Torch has an RRP of £4.29 (prices correct at time of publication and are subject to change without notice)
This is a top end head torch and perfect for the camping world, but not
only that, it is great for those night hikes, wild camps and moonlight walks
through the deep dark forests. This head lamp belts out a great beam at 120
Lumens giving you a great field of vision and easily lighting up your path
to help you avoid those hidden dark trip hazards. The great thing about this
head torch is that it is rechargeable via USB cable, so you can get it fully
charged on your way to the site and if you are going for those moonlight
hikes, then a small battery charger pack in your pocket, just in case, is
just the ticket. The Robens Cross Fell has three different light modes,
normal white led light and a flashing red light, just in case you get into a
spot of bother and need some guidance for people to find you. What we did
really like is the IR sensor on the head lamp, simply set the mode up and
swipe your hand in front and the lamp illuminates. This is quite a good mode
in case you are using it when reading in bed and fall asleep, saves the
batteries going flat.
The Robens Cross Fell has an RRP of £21.99 (prices correct at time of
publication and are subject to change without notice) and is a small price
to pay for a great quality headtorch that is an essential part of your
camping kit if you like it brighter in the dead of night.
