Good morning folks,
Our leisure battery needs charging (it was on its last bit of juice when I collected our trailer tent in August) What plug attachment is appropriate to slowly charge it off the mains electric at home please? Many thanks
a battery charger such as the one you use for your car is what is needed, however being left for so long without charging it may now have rendered the battery deceased. if i was you i would ask neighbours if any have a car battery charger and see if that will work before paying out for one and finding that the battery has had it.
Not quite sure what you mean by "plug attachment". To charge a leisure battery from the mains you need a proper battery charger. There are many different ones available from places like Halfords etc and other car accessory outlets, but the best option in my opinion is a smart charger. These are often available from Aldi or Lidl, but unfortunately they don't have them in all the time.
However, if your leisure battery was very low in August and it hasn't been charged since, it is quite likely to be beyond saving. You need to make sure that they are never left discharged for any length of time as they deteriorate rapidly if left in that state. I take mine off my caravan when it is not in use over winter and top it up with my charger at least once a month.
