I recently contacted a site to ask if they had pitches suitable for Trailer Tents. They accepts tents, caravans and motorhomes but thought I'd check. The answer 'unfortunately we don't'. I just wondered why that might be. I replied 'no hardstanding?' and they chose not to reply. We'd be quite happy on hardstanding or grass. Has anyone else encountered this?

when we had our trailer tent, we found it far easier to look for pitches by saying we where just a tent, similar thing when we got a folding camper as we could ask for a caravan pitch then with the added advantage of asking for a tent pitch if need be. lets face it a trailer tent is no different to having a large frame tent and taking it on site in a camping trailer
I had similar earlier this year a site I had used before changed hands and they won't allow trailer tents as they say no wheels allowed on the grass but strangely you can put a caravan or motor home on the same pitch it seems they think they are more upmarket as they try to discourage tent camping as well by saying you must leave your car in the car park and carry your camping kit to the pitch !

That's ridiculous!
I've never heard anything more ridiculous. Are you sure they knew what you were talking about? You've possibly been speaking to someone who misunderstood the question (or the unit)? Possibly worth another call and asking for the manager / owner?
