Hi, has anyone successful resolved the problem of puddling on the top of the transit cover of Conway Crusader, we will be putting a winter cover on but need to resolve this problem too.
On our cabanon we get the same problem but its easily over come by putting an empty water container or washing up bowl etc under the cover so it slopes.
Thank you Lockie, just looked at the "What shall we do about storing a folding camper" thread put on previously in reply to a similar post, and they suggest in there a football or 2 under the cover - so great ideas - many thanks
Never felt the need to put anything under the transit cover myself, always just wound down the jockey and the water just ran off the back.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Thank you blueexpo97, what do you do to stop the middle section (this dips naturally between the two folded bed sections) from filling up with water as whichever way you tilt the camp this will be unavoidable?
I put 2 old sleeping bags under the transit cover and on top of this I put 3 old feather pillows,
This creates an apex and I never have any trouble with puddling or damp inside the camper.
I have been successfully using this method for the last 5 years.
John
I've got two plastic toy boxes under the transit cover of my TT to create a ridge down the centre. Sheds the water nicely. It also creates a bit of an air gap under the cover for air to circulate round and this helps stop damp creeping in too.

Nope, honestly never encountered that, possibly because the transit cover was as taught as I could possibly get it.

Hi Merrilegs, if you've got the same crusader as me it pools in about 9 places because of the metal framing on the bed boards. I tried all sorts and ended up buying from a builders yard wall insulating board and cut it down to fit each section and with the metal leg bit that sits in the middle section, I fold it back onto the bed board once with insulating board is in place.
This flattens the whole thing and along with the jockey wheel as low as possible the water just runs right off. I spent about £30 buying it but I keep it in place all year round (along with the winter cover to keep it clean) and have no pooling problems.
A bit of expense but saves me having to go out every time it rains to start de-pooling the crusader!
Many thanks to you all, we have "attacked" the problem this weekend with washing up bowl and footballs and breached the central dip with the step ladders - looks like it will do the job really well, awaiting the arrival of Pennine Winter Cover to complete the job, Our Crusader does puddle like yours Heather, the insulation board sounds like an excellent idea too... will go this route if all else fails.
Must ask Ross Boy, what is a "Roach Pole"? have asked lotsa male friends and they don't know either...fishing???
