Hi all, just wondered if anyone can help me 7nderstand the breaking system on my Conway Crusader ? I am unable to reverse the camper because the breaks keep coming on and it just burns my clutch. Is ther3 something I’m supposed to do to override this or let 5he camper know it is being reversed ?

are you absolutely sure of its age being 2010? i would have thought that yours has the overide on it already its a very long time since to reverse you had to get out and hold the tiny little bit of metal that sticks up on the hitch, i thought those had stopped being used in the late 1980s early 90s

Can you turn the tow hitch from side to side easily by hand when not connected to the car? If not, then the hitch mechanism may need greasing.If it is sticking the shaft may not be releasing the brakes.

Hi yes it’s 2010 I think it’s meant to have an override I just don’t think it’s working properly

Before you try to reverse move forward slightly to extend the bar in the coupling and then reverse. This should free the brakes off and allow the trailer to move backwards.

When was the trailer serviced? The brakes may need adjusting and setting up properly to enable the auto reverse mechanism to work properly.

I thought the Crusader went out of production around 2006/7, is the canvas blue or green?

My thoughts too; sounds like the brake cables / rods need lubricating. A service wouldn't go amiss.
