Sounds like a fault on the fridge. Take the bottom grill on the outside of the cabin off and You’ll see a plug for the fridge. Unplug it and plug it into an extension lead, if it trips the fuse box, the fridge is the problem. If it doesn’t trip the fuse box, it could be the circuit breaker at fault, or the wiring to the fridge socket. Hope you get sorted.
In your picture the left hand main switch is also and TCD. This is a protective device which will trip if there is a very small short circuit to earth known as an earth fault. 30 milli amps or mA or 30 thousandths of an amp to be precise. If it is the main switch tripping that is what it is most likely to be.
The other possibility is if you have lots of other stuff plugged in causing the electric supply to be overloaded but that will usually trip the the MCB in the site electric point.
Try unplugging everything and plug things in one at a time only. If one thing makes it trip, that probably has an earth fault and will need checking.
There was nothing plugged in at all. We had just unpacked it to clean it. The other things worked. Lights, plug sockets etc. But not the fridge / charger one. I could hold it between on and off and it worked. Which makes me wonder if it’s the trip switch that’s faulty
Hi we have a Pennine pathfinder, the lights, indicator, brake, everything you can see on back of camper doesn’t work. The car has been checked and that’s all fine. We have had the wire out the lights on back of camper, tested and they are fine. Would seem that it’s the earth? . Are there any connectors anywhere?
Electrical problems can be a nightmare sometimes but it's a matter of checking through the whole system until you find the problem.
If the car socket and trailer plug are ok I would check the cable for any breaks or damage (rodents often nibble cable). Assuming the cable is ok use a meter to check each light function to see if you have a problem. The lights are earthed to the car through the socket so check that the earth connection to the car is good and clean it up if needed.
Have the trailer lights worked previously?
Has the car been used for towing before without any problems?
Have you tried plugging the car into another trailer to see if that works?
Have you tried plugging the trailer into another car?
Have you cleaned all the connections to the lights?
It's just a long and often frustrating and tedious process of elimination I'm afraid.
Good luck and don't forget to come back and let us know how you get on.
