Hello,
I’m looking to get my family a folding camper. Having been large polycotton tent people with a trailer for the last 6 years, we’d now really like something a bit more comfortable and easier to set up. Also my husband has decided he doesn’t want to share the loos in campsites anymore! So we’re after one with a built in bathroom.
My question is, can we get one with our budget of £2500? We saw one in that price range but it was a 2002 Pennine Pathfinder, and it looked like it had seen better days.
We want something newer, preferably 2007 onwards, but is that just unlikely for my budget?
Any advice appreciated.
P.s. we’re near Bristol if anyone wants to sell, could travel an hour or so. Thanks v much
Have a read of a nearby thread in this forum, called “not for us”. It’s about a time issue that may not apply to the model that you’re thinking of, but no harm being aware.
Hi last year we decided to give the camping a boot and bought a 2005 pennine pathfinder and love it, Ive seen lots of the pathfinders on sale on Gumtree so if you search for folding camper on there you might get a really good deal for your budget. When we are looking we saw newer campers in terrible state and older ones that were taken care of. Pennine did a few models with bathrooms but think they were a lot newer. I think the pullman also had a bathroom on earlier models 2003 - 2007, the main reason for us for the pathfinder was we wanted the oven to make family holidays easier. But certainly check Gumtree
Thanks for your comments both. I guess I’m a bit nervous about buying an older one that may start to fall apart when I don’t know much about fixing it! But that’s definitely a good point about it depending on how each camper has been treated over the years. Thanks
2005 on eBay for just over £2k and a 2007 for just under £5k
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Hi Camomile, we were nervous too when looking at buying one but I did get lots of help from this forum and what to look for when going to look round a potential purchase, the one we bought the owner was happy for us to look and try everything which really any seller should. If i still have my check list i will repost it
Hello again,
Pleased to say that we are now proud owners of a Pennine Trailfinder (special edition of a Pathfinder). It’s a 2000 edition but has a newer brown coffee & cream canvas and Isabella awning on it. We’re very happy!
The only thing is that it didn’t come with the side bed skirts. I don’t suppose anyone is selling theirs? It’s the coffee and cream colour we’re after, for a Pathfinder.
Thanks again for advice and help.
