Hi all, brand new to owning a trailer tent. I have just purchased a Conway Challenger & the EHU has a female connector. I'm condused as don't all EHU points on campsites also have female connectors? What cable do i need?

You need a normal hook up lead available from all caravan and camping shops.

Thx for responding. Sorry i don't think i was very clear. So my trailer has a female connector, and so does most campsites. So a normal hook up lead won't work so i'm just assuming i need a cable with two male ends which i cannot find anywhere.

I've had this. You'll need to remove the female on a normal lead and replace / rewire it with a male.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motorhome-Caravan-Hookup-60309-IP449/dp/B00KCQT3E6

Always plug the lead into the trailer tent before connecting to the hook-up point. And visa versa, remove from hookup point first when leaving.

Or if it's accessible you could replace the female connector in the trailer tent with one of these https://www.caravanparts.co.uk/cce-4008-caravan-mains-inlet-p-606.html instead and use a normal lead

Replacing the 'standard' inline socket on a normal EHU lead with a plug is HIGHLY DANGEROUS! You then have the potential situation of live exposed connectors if someone plugs in the EHU post end first, and you can never rule out that someone other than the 'aware' owner will always be the one handling the cable! The inline socket (with insulated connectors AND safety cover) on the end of the lead for the caravan end is there for a VERY good reason, it's a fail safe feature if the cable ends are connected in wrong order!

The ONLY safe option is to fit the CORRECT bulkhead PLUG on the TT. It's no more technical than swapping the lead socket for a plug, but should only be undertaken by someone with necessary understanding and skill to safely work with electrical apparatus.

Have a good look and see if there is another EHU connector on the camper with male pins on it. If so this will be the inlet to connect to the site EHU pillar using a lead with a female one end and male the other.

My guess is that someone has installed a female connector so you can plug in another EHU for use in the awning perhaps.
