Has anyone had to put the trailer tent away wet due to torrential rain, then every day after it has rained? I haven’t managed to dry it out yet as it continues to rain. How long is acceptable to leave it without worrying about damp/mould?
if you have the space to open it up, then do so, it doesnt matter if it gets wet as long as the air can circulate the weather over the next few days is looking a lot better so you should be able to get it dried
Cant speak from a specific point of view of trailer tents.
Not at all sure there is a hard and fast answer! I recently had to pack my soaking wet caravan awning (taken down in the rain, after days of rain!) badly/loosely in a bin bag (rather than put it in it's tightly fitting holdall!), and leave for over a week before any attempt to dry properly, it was fine! It all depends on whether or not it's picked up fungal spores and environment encourages growth!
Perhaps worst case scenario is tightly packed, wet, warm, and airless, and left that way!
Hardly the first time I've had to take down a soaking wet awning/tent (I seem to be cursed in that respect!), but yet to suffer any great consequences.
No doubt that ASAP drying is desirable, but a week does not automatically condemn to mouldy failure! Beyond a week is perhaps pushing ones luck!
I'm one of many, who has limited drying facilities, so you take your opportunities as and when you can, that is not always ideal, but so far has worked out OK for me!
I am thinking of buying a trailer tent but what happens when you back away the canvas wet? Does everything inside like the bedding get wet from the wet canvas? Any advice would be greatly appreciated as this is worrying me and putting me off buying a Racket Quick stop. This will be my first trailer tent after a caravan.
Thanks
------------- to sit at the top of the mountain you have just climbed and enjoy the view with a brew in your hand.
Best bet is to get a Riva Dandy because they do not use canvas. They use PVC impregnated acrylic like curtain sided lorry material. This can be packed away wet and left like it until next time you use it.
Because it doesn't absorb water it is usually dry by the time you get home.
