Hi all.... Looking forward to a new season again.... This is a wide topic... Just wondering does anyone have any tips or hacks to spruce up their folding campers?.. Maybe for example lights in awning.. What sheets to put down on awning floor... Etc...
I am new folding camper owner and looking forward to our first trip so interested to see what comments you get need all the tips and advice I can get 😁
Lights for awnings choice is as open as the sky! There are countless lights available from strips of LEDS which can be daisy-chained together which give enormous illumination, to single bulb lanterns that give just about enough light to stop you tripping over things! It all depends upon what you need the illumination for.
As to floor coverings, worth bearing in mind that most sites insist upon breathable coverings to avoid damaging the grass (even been on a site that insisted on a breathable carpet on the all pebble HS!), and some even then still insist you lift if for several hours every few days to let the grass recover!
Remember that truly waterproof coverings (like tarpaulins, or bathtub groundsheets etc.) not only stop groundwater coming up, but also any ingress draining away, so with them you can end up with puddles, even a paddling pool! Countless times I've had 'streams' running through my awning during heavy rain, it doesn't matter as my breathable woven carpet drains feely once the rain stops! I tend not to leave anything potentially damaged by water on the ground in my awning, it's always raised just in case there is water ingress.
The course woven plastic awning carpets are both practicable and comfortable underfoot. They are rot proof, quick drying, and can be hosed down to clean if necessary. I got mine fairly cheaply from an Aldi/Lidl middle aisle deal, and it's survived 8 years of use pretty well, similar ones available from many outlets.
Hi Monty.... Thanks for the info... I better purchase a good ground sheet as I'll be in the one spot for July for 3 weeks....ya I suppose all lights are a matter of taste..... I must try get black out curtains also actually
