Soz, not meant to offend, my point was this, look the replies to this question loads from Dandy owners and little from Pennine/Conway owners, thought I'd put accross another opinion/viewpoint rather than being bamblasted from one side only, it comes down to personal preference. I personally like the smell feel and experience of canvas, others like the safety of having a product that means no worries about wet packing up(as for mist etc provided it's not raining, it takes next to no time to dry off even when wet it only takes about 1 hour max to dry in my experience so packing up on day of departure it's dry by the time of take off), others prefer tents others Caravans and many prefer the package holiday, the main decision is what do you prefer, the look of and feel of canvas and on the odd occasion having to air it compaired to knowing that if it does rain you don't have to air it. because of all arguments thats seems to be what it boils down to (read all the posts Pennine owners like the look and feel etc of canvas and mention this against Dandies and dandy owners mention packing away when wet, the 2 most strong points of all arguments. only the purchaser knows him or herself with regards to this aspect. I think to help someone decide in the future maybe we should only comment on the things that annoy us about our respective models. as we wouldn't have purchased ours if we didn't like them would we!!!! no offence intended just a different point of view.
Exactly. Life would be very boring if we all had the same units (not to mention nothing to look at on the trip to the loo). I must admit the smell of canvas is the one thing I would miss if we change. Hopefully will be many a summer yet tho.

From what I understand the only argument in favour of a Dandy over a Pennine is that a Dandy can be packed away wet .If thats all they can offer over a Pennine then it counts for very little.I have owned three folding campers one was used overseas in the tropics, the other two both Pennines owned in this country ,all of them with canvas tops,we have never had any problems that are so often talked about,of all the countless times that we have been away I can honestly only remember on two occasions having to just pull back the transit cover for an hour or so on arrival back home .I think that a point that is often overlooked is that recreation is about enjoyment and being comfortable and in pleasant surroundings ,it is this point where a Pennine and a Pathfinder in particular wins every time ,in this respect all others are just runners up .
I'd just like to say that after looking at loads of different campers we chose a Pennine Pathfinder and I absolutely love it, call me small minded but looks do matter!!!
Dandy all the way. Having camped in everything from a pup tent to a caravan , I would always return to the Dandy. I love the way they stand out on sites & always I end up answering questions & showing round curious campers. They are tough as old boots , so easy to do a bespoke DIY conversion inside , They are reconised as a caravan by the CC , they are quirky & something a bit diffrent.
If you want plush fixtures & fittings get a Pennine , if you want no frills pratical durable clobber get a Dandy. They are definatly built to last. I,ve got a 23yo 5 sat on the drive waiting to be done up but I,ll still have no probs in hitching it up & clearing off for a fortnight tommorow. If you buy new, ring the factory & speak to the guy building it & tell him what you want, they,ll accomadate you. A bit like the Aston Martin of the FC world !!! The choice is yours.
Oh BTW has anybody mentioned you can tear down wet & leave it indefinatley yet ? lol.
THUMPER.

We'd just like to say thank you for all of the replies. We've taken the plunge and bought a Pennine Pullman. Just waiting for delivery now !
From the replies, we are encouraged by the devotion of the respective owners of Dandy's and Pennine's. It seems there is no knock down argument for or against, just a lot of pleasure to be had.
