Nothing wrong with sunncamp trailer tents at all, we've recently sold ours to upgrade to a tin tent and I will deffinatley miss her.We have had quite a few trips away in her an she was very sturdy in strong winds and very dry in rain as well.
We bought our Sunncamp 250 from a couple in Runcorn who had looked after her like a baby fro at least 12 years. Apart from a few minor marks and snapped rubbers she is like new. I love her and am looking forward to using her for another few years!!!. All for less than the price of two nights in a posh hotel!

we just bought a sunncamp 500 but dont know which year it is we were told its possibly a 2003/4 but colour scheme seems to match one on ebay listed as a 2005 do they change design yearly or only when the stock runs out?
BTW ours is blue/yellow main cabin if anyone can help with age
we have a suncamp venture folding camper which has just cost us a fortune to be mended.Suncamp do not want to know.The axle broke for no reason,at first we thought bad luck ,until the repairer started checking it,oh my god we are lucky to be alive,the brakes were set totally wrong,the chassis were all out of line and plenty other dangerous faults were to be found.We presented all the facts and figures to suncamp but they dont want to know,not intrested,weve got your money,goodbye very nice firm eh.By the way the camper was bought brand new is 2 years old and been used 6 times,well cared for and garaged.We are back on the road now thanks to our local repairer and what a difference it tows like a dream
Funny old thing, I've heard horror stories from just about ALL trailer tent manufacturers, especially Trigano, but Sunncamp as well.
I have found that it's all a case of how you approach it. If you contact tradingstandards.gov.uk, and get a case reference, then quote it on a (polite) letter to Sunncamp requiring them to fulfil their legal obligation under the Sale of Goods Act 1978, then you may well find that you have a different response to if you 'phone up and yell! (Not that I'm implying that you did).
By the way, I have had a look at the Venture, and that is the one model which I would never touch (Sorry!). The one I looked at had REALLY badly plated poles, the chassis was quite obviously skew as hell and it looked like a deathtrap. And this was a NEW one. Ugh. Buy a second hand Conway Cruiser or something.
(Incidentaly re: the review. Why is 100% cotton Canvas a plus point? How many trailer tents DON'T have 100% cotton canvas? Also, of all the Sunncamp's many excellent qualities, like space and price, I would be steering gently clear of Canvas Quality if I were them....)
Now, I reckon there's a market for a trailer tent built out of flexible fibreglass poles with ripstop nylon 'canvas', costing sub-£1000. If you made new flysheets readily available for £150 or so, then you could have a new fly every couple of seasons for the cost of keeping cotton canvas waterproof!
If the concept could be made to work, then the only company even faintly capable of pulling it off would be Sunncamp.

We bought a second hand 400se 2 years ago and have had great times in it. Our last trip out was to the Isle of wight.
Through no fault of the tent we had a terrible journey and missed our ferry. When we finally got there and met up with our friends in their caravan all the children (our 2 boys and their 2 girls) spent most of the time in the TT.
Love our TT and when the time comes will buy another.
My daughter has a 350SE and loves it, loads of space, easy to tow, no probs with quality. Only criticism is the time it takes to put the awning up, but hey, it's a great size. People's comments indicate they last years, so why pay more.
Interesting that except for the folding camper, not much in the way of critism here, but plenty over the months on more expensive TT's, torn this and that, bent poles etc.
We have a combi camp, but as oldies it's prob the easiest TT to put up, and we can continue camping.

Hi we have a Sunncamp 350 Se and had thought about changing it but then decided against whe we considered how much we like the space, comfort, ease of towing it gives. Only one mark against is the time it takes to erect awning, but then again the space is great so well worth the effort. Nice to sit down with drink and relax.
------------- It always rains on tents. Rainstorms will travel thousands of miles, against prevailing winds for the opportunity to rain on a tent.
I did a comparison last year of prices against space (i.e. price per square meter).
Your Pennines and Conways came out at £190-ish per sq. meter,
Triganos, Cabanons etc. came out at £100 per sq.m
Raclets were £70-ish per sq.m
Sunncamps.... £30 per sq.m
In terms of space against value for money, Sunncamps are way off the scale. In particular the 400SE is just ASKING to be owned by the sort of family who invites loads of people in for a cup of tea!
For my money that is Sunncamps greatest strength.
Bushey5, the reason you won't find too much critisism here is that this is a thread about how much people like Sunncamps! It IS a fair critisism to say that they aren't built as well or out of as solid materials as more expensive TTs, but I guess the point most people were making is that a far more important factor for longevity is how the tent has been looked after.
I too have a Sunncamp 400SE and although I have only had it out once it was perfect.
The one weekend I decided to use it was probably one of the wettest and windyest of the year and even without storm straps it never moved and form the inside with the heater on it was cosy.
I bought it new this year and looked at many other makes. It's likes others say... it may not last as long as other makes but if well kept it will last long enogh for my kids to grow up and thats all I need it to do.
The space is uncredible and it's ideal for the family. I have done some modifications to the build, but not because of quality just to make things easier like mounting the spare whell underneath and putting a storage box on the front, and adding electrics so that I only need to plug it into hook up. There are many things you can do to these TT's to make then suite you. I have many plans to modify it further to make it even more homely.
Sunncamp means Value for Money.......
