i have just had a nightmare with a buyer on ebay total numpty
bought my van then said he would ring me that night to talk about paying and collection when i answered the phone he was screeming at me about how i new he had won the bidding and just went off on one anyway he refused to buy i told ebay and was told im not allowed to leave negative feedback company policy so don't be fooled by there feedback been good because it is a waste of time if there is no negative allowed
I agree with that why can't sellers leave negative feedback no more? I think if a case has been opened & unresolved then the seller should have the option to leave negative as I think it only fair. Instead of ebay having this silly strike system which don't help the seller when a potential buyer messes them about.
As for phishing scams I think I've had them all from banks, tax office & the hello my name is blah blah give me your bank details & I'll shove millions in your bank account etc etc!!!!!
Never ever give out any details even if the email seems to be from your bank!!!
I'm selling my van on ebay at the moment and originally I put my mobile number in the ad (stupid yes I know bit stressed at the moment) I had a call from someone telling me they were a finance company buying on behalf of someone giving me £300 more that the van was advertised at. They asked for my bank details to pay the cash in. Yes you guessed it I gave them my bank details, within seconds of coming off the phone it dawned on me what I'd done. I phoned my bank cancelled everything cards cheque book and transferred all the money into a new account. A lot of hassle but better to be safe than sorry. They just got me a time when my head is in a mess!! Waiting for new cards etc but of course the posties are on strike! Never rains but pours!!

Tweetypie, nothing wrong in putting your number on the ad. What was wrong was that they pulled a con with a new twist. Fortunately you realised and prevented any loss. Thanks for the warning.
Gumtree is just as bad. There was a guy selling a conway for 2g on ebay. had lots of questions and always replied with a rude NO! It sold for 2g.
So the day after it ended, I was looking on Gumtree and there is that same folding camper with the same pics and description with an asking price of ......1000 Knew right away it would be a scam and reported it. It was the London listings and the ebay one was in a different location. But I wonder how many will go see it and take cash with them.
