They are five berth according to the piccys, they do an optional shoehorn, though as its a camplet,it will be about 50 quid. If you can look after 4 kids by yourself, putting up a camplet should be a breeze! Good luck whatever you decide, and stay away from halfords!

I think they assume 3 children on the second bed. They are 150 wide, so not unreasonable when the children are small I suppose.

Four small children on the second bed would be pushing it! Three is feasible.

Well they are 2m long, and a standard self inflating mat is only 50cm wide.... If they're anything like mine though the warfare will stop you enjoying your nice comfy bed!

A combi camp with 2 doubles and a side bedroom would probably accomodate you. Someone has helpfully uploaded the entire instructional dvd to youtube in 3 parts. Part 1 is here.

If you win the lottery anytime soon theres always Holtkamper, you have to go to Holland to buy them though! I think my children would love the design of the awning, but I've never seen one in the flesh.

Hi there

I'm a recently single mum of 4 and I have just returned from a weekend camping in Skegness. I bought a Pennine Clubman folding camper from ebay, hooked it up to my car and off I went. Being 5'2" it was a doddle to put up and the only help I had was with the awning, but there were many brillliant people on the site who, for the price of a cup of tea, helped me. Also my youngest is 8 months old so it was a bit of a challenging weekend, but I made some great friends and will be going it alone again in the summer!

Im only 5ft 2 and i dont think i could put the tt - camplet up on my own more due to lack of upper body strength than anything else :) I could put the Khyam tourer 600 ( sleeps 6) easily on my own and made sure I arrived at camp-site near lunch time and the kids ate while i set up camp!

Hi, I am also divorced, but with only 1 child and am 5'7". I have just changed from a trigano vendome, because it is too big and lengthy to put up, but i have taken it all over the place, I did need help putting it up, but if i couldnt arrange for there to be someone i knew to be around to help, I also found that other campers were always willing to help with anything.

I have just bought a conway tardis, it needs a few 'tweeks' but the main reason is that it is so much easier to put up than a trailer tent - attaching the awning was the biggest problem - the centre top of the awning on my TT was about 7'6'' up! I can put the tardis up unaided, my daughter will be able to go and play! It has 3 double beds, so should accommodate your children etc.

I have been camping 'solo' for 6 years now. I love it and it's the ideal single parent holiday imo - other campers are friendly when you want a bit of company, kids run off make friends and give you some peace and you can enjoy the plus side of being single - having no-one to please but yourself! Good luck, Claire

hi, i am a single mom of two boys 4 and 5 yrs and i have recently purchased a 2nd hand pennine fiesta 1990 model i have absolutley no problem puting up the cabin and i have even managed to put up the awning up at home on my own and i'm only 5ft 1 , on site there is nearly always someone nearby to help out with the awning if its a bit windy , folding campers are not all that popular down here in kerry so other campers are a bit curious to get a look at how they work .

good luck with whatever you decide

Hello Mookett, I'm sure this topic is done and dusted by now...BUT combicamp trailer tents are entirely openable by one person and once you have opened it - it is up! The awning may be a little more tricky but with a couple of children to hold the poles still while you pull the awning over it is very do-able. The more recent venezia, valley or country are even easier. We have a 20plus years old combicamp Family. Sleeps 6. Open and up in 30 seconds. see www.combi-camp.co.uk/lifestyle.htm

Hi CC42 - thanks for the reply. I'll probably buy something at the end of the holidays, so I'll have a look at your link.
