Someone else on here recently asked if anyone local to them woulds be happy to let them have a look at their units. Maybe people within a reasonable distance to you would be happy for you to pop round to see their set up when they are doing their spring airing? As you say us Scottish folk are really advantaged with no decent dealerships so we have all been in the same boat before bying.

We live in North Aberdeenshire near Banff and have a Fiesta which we are hoping to put up some dry weekend. You are welcome to come see it. We found it on FreeAds last year up in Fraserburgh.
I'm delighted someone can show you their fc without you having to go to the trouble and expense of travelling far with 2 young kids. Might get lucky enough to get an offer to see other types so you can compare fc to tt.
Hopefully the fiesta owners will be able to give you an understanding of how easy putting up an fc is and how much kit can be transported inside, saving space in the car.
We had a tt originally but we found that really hard work & time consuming even with 2 adults and older kids.
Fingers crossed you find a style you like but remember you may have to drive a fair distance to pick it up. We drove to Manchester for ours. Some folk on here arranged meeting at a mid point if the distance was considerable.
May be worth putting a wanted advert on preloved as well as tracking them on eBay?
Good luck, I'm sue you & your kids will love it when you find the one for you
We did what arcadia suggested, Put a wanted ad on preloved and ended up with a pennine fiesta, a great FC, we had to travel a good way to collect it but as there were none to be found locally it was the only option, the only down side is if you get there and it's not to your expectations then it's a wasted journey,But if you get the seller to E.mail plenty of pics you should be ok,hope you get what your after.
regards.

Have a day out at camperlands in Manchester or Casesy Outdoor Leisure near Chester. Both have a lot on display usually and both have staff that know a bit about most units. Personally I would recommend CAsesys as the staff are not pushy and really do go out of their way to help. You can always take a picnc or have lunch out in the area so it feels like a trip out.

Thanks for all the comments - I appreciate your advice. I do not have dry storage space for an FC - I have plenty of large outbuildings which I could use to store a TT on its side - but I would need to wheel it in on its side on a side storage bracket - one of the main reasons I started looking at the Camp-let and the Sunncamp. In Aberdeenshire where we regularly have 2-3 ft of snow lying for months at a time during winter, it would be essential to have it under cover. I would like it to be newish - my budget is up to £3k.
andcow - I would love to have a day out at Camperlands or a similar place and have tried to work out how I could manage it - but it is a 7 hour drive for me to get there so I will have to make a long weekend of it! Maybe the Easter holidays will be suitable. :)
Please remember when you put a tt on it's side it's still quite wide. We bought some side storage brackets for a trailer tent but it wouldn't go through our standard size(1m) garden gate without removing the wheels. Conway/Sunncamp type trailer tents are usually 105cms high - Camplets may be smaller.
Hi harassed mum,
Please do not get a Sunncamp 400,we sold ours to camping international last year,it is far to heavy and awkward for you to put up on your own,My husband and I struggled withe the pair of us!
We bought a Conway 2002 countryman from Ebay and although we were sure we would be disappointed we took a chance and it is great, very good condition easy to put up excellent choice, you should still be careful when looking on Ebay but if you see lots of pictures and maybe ask for a demo then you can't go far wrong.
As I have said for your own sake (and your childrens!)
I dont advise getting a TT,your name would really reflect your mood if you do!
Thanks to everyone for their posts.... I have just taken the plunge and bought an immaculate 2008 Camp-let Concorde and we are going to test her out in the Easter Holidays. Kids and I can't wait! Can put her up on my own....so that's a big bonus! Happy Camping times ahead I feel
Hi I HAVE A CAMPLET AND IT IS EASY TO PUT UP BY 1 PERSON.IT IS ONLY 250 KGS SO YOUR 1.2 WILL PULL IT EASILY.THE ONLY HARD PART TO PUTTING IT UP IS THE PEGGING AND THE LUGGAGE HOLDER WHICH GOES UNDERNEATH.WITH 2 YOUNGSTERS I WOULD GET THE CAMPLET.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
