Some sites that we have used have dog walking areas, but these tend to be areas of the site that would be unsuitable for siting any unit on and therefore for the cost of putting a path through that area, putting a dog poo bin at each end, they can "legitimately (???)" charge a fee for dogs and get money for an otherwise useless bit of ground. It does not matter to us how nice a site is, I will not patronise any site that over charges or tries to obtain money for little in return. If the site is good then I will advertise that fact, but if the site is less than perfect, whilst I will not do it down, I will simply not say anything about it and I will not use it again.
Our dogs, like any other "bit of equipment" has to have more than one use. So ours double as Cushions and on chilly nights, Hot Water Bottles.
in 2001 we stayed at a certain site in charmouth and they charged £2 a night for a cat who never came out of the camper
unfortunately when we were paying the damned cat was sitting at the window waving
Awww, I'm so broody for one just like that! He's utterly gorgeous.
We pay about £1 per dog per night at most of the sites we go to and I don't think that's unreasonable. I'd never think of going away without them. I spend enough time away from them when I'm working (OH works from home, so he's with them more) When camping time comes around I want them right with us.
thinking about it now lol.he's having his jabs tomorrow. 1st one is £20.94 and second is the same and for this month they are doing 1/2 price chipping £15.So i'm going to ask 2 others around what they charge, but i think they will be around the same price. But one does obedience classes to and i wanted to know more about those.dont know if these are cheap/dear????
The Riverside site in South Molton Devon gives a good deal. 2 adults, 2 children, car, awning, 2 dogs, hard standing, EHU, water, grey waste & tv connection - highest price? £25 a night over August B/Holiday. 3 fishing lakes, level pitches, river running thru site (yes dogs allowed in river), lovely dog walk thru woods, Aunt Polly's Tea Rooms, secure site. Caravan storage - £10 a week. Reckon that's pretty good.
i don't mind paying for our dog, after all he enjoys camping as much as we do.We have never paid more than £2 a night and compared to £15 a night in a kennel its a bargain as the dog is happier and we are better off.
I was quite shocked when a site i really wanted to go to said they charge £5 for a day visitor so if my parents had popped in for a cuppa it would cost £10,needless to say i decided not to stay there and they have lost £150 business.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
