Whilst the display Olympe at Black Country Caravans may be cheaper, it will have had no ends of people climbing all over it and jumping in the beds with shoes on. I've seen it and it is the original model and I presume the same one they have used on display at the NEC, and potentially put up/down more times than the newer one that's for sale on here as mentioned above. Plus there's almost £1000 worth of extras, which if you didn't need you could sell on as they would be barely used too. I think I would be inclined to take a look at the one for sale on here, you may be able to make them an offer and get it a little bit cheaper anyway.
The seller is asking £4500, which includes sun canopy, side annex and 2 under bed pods. A total original price for the extras stated buy the seller of £680. If you were to sell just those items you would possibly get £300 for the lot IMHO.
The TT most likely cost £4775 in 2011 if you consider that a brand new 2012 model costs £4975.
You can remove the VAT, (17.5% at the time), off the price of £4775, which reduces the price to £3940. Add on the extras of £680 minus VAT, which is £561. Therefore, if you add the TT plus extras together the price is £4501, which is what the seller is asking.
In my opinion even if the selling price was open to offers it is over priced as the only reduction appears to be the loss of VAT, which is only paid on brand new goods.
I would have thought a more realistic second hand price would have been in the region of £4000 subject to offers, which should result in the TT with the extras being sold for roughly £3800.
Hence my point on paying the difference and going for a brand new one.
However, the choice of whether to buy at the sellers asking price is down to any possible buyer.
Griff....the 2012 GL model is actually £5295 reduced from £5595. I think you are quoting the 2012 price without the kitchen. The extras I purchased came to £760, and the TT was not £4775 when I purchased it.
I have priced the My TT based on the use its had and the extras included in the sale.
Maybe I got a vat free promotion maybe I won it, maybe I am pretending I paid more to get a higher price, maybe I don't even have a TT to sell....life's too short to go worrying about what people are asking for a second hand TT!
You can get them secondhand, but they are few and far between, being so new. I've just bought a 2009 model for £3500 with the extra bedroom annexe and sun canopy - I pick it up in 2 weeks time, but it will be next spring before I know if I've made the right choice or not I guess! It is from a dealer and they gave me an excellent price on my old Chantilly - £100 more than I paid for it privately 3 years ago.
At £3500 with the extras (which I wanted), it should be about £2k less than a new one, which is a saving worth having.
Mine being a 2009 is from the very first year though, and some modifications to the design have been done since then. Can anyone comment on if the extra pole to stop the ponding on the roof is a worthwhile change? If it is, I may just buy the bits and make that change myself.
Someone above mentioned Black Country Caravans being more expensive than Camperlands. I went into BCC not long ago and asked them if they would match Camperlands deals - with a little reluctance they said yes. Worth trying if you want to use BCC! Not sure what it looks like at Camperlands, but I found all the brand new TT's stored outside at BCC rather off-putting - they were all still wrapped in the plastic used to protect them in-transit, and many were full of condensation which doesn't strike me as being great for a brand new unit.
The display unit in BCC is one without a kitchen I think - these seem to be much less popular and I can imagine may be more difficult to sell on in the future.
Help. We've just been to see our first trailer tents at an expo but the salespeople told us they don't stock the trigano olympe anymore as its not good but tried to sell me a raclet safari instead. The olympe seems to fit us with 4 kids to enable us to give all of them a room each. What is the real deal here, hey nat why did sell yours after 2 years. Input please everyone before we make an expensive mistake.
The reason I ask is because to my knowledge there has only been two UK dealers and they both still sell them and rate them.
We got our Olympe brand new in 2010 and it is a fantastic TT. We have been pitched up in very strong winds and heavy rain. It didn`t move or drip once inside.
We can fully erect it, which includes fully pegging in roughly 45 mins.
tonti- we love our Trigano Olympee and for us a Family of 6 it is fantastic. We are due to part ex it next week as we have purchased a Caravan. We have looked/ talked about caravans for a couple of years now and main reason for the change is the ease on arrival and extended season, easier pack ups etc.
I do however find the TT quite heavy to open out the beds, that's where my 14 year old came in! I have to say though it is one of he easiest TTs to set up ad you can be under cover within minutes if it is raining, and everything else can be done from inside the TT. I won't miss having to wait for the condensation/ dew to dry out before leaving a site though, or having to open it up again when we get home if we have had to pack away wet......which luckily has only been twice since we had it...but did actually put us off short stays.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
