I assume the design of your awning is the same as my older model where you have to hook the apex pole onto the main unit, and this is what you are struggling with. If so here is a quick tip. Slide out the part of the pole with the hock and attach it before fully extending the beds.. just on the apex part. It will be easier to reach. When you build the rest of the awning fold the front legs in half the make it all easier to reach. As someone also posted i find it easier to zip the awning canvass on before building the frame.
Stand on the top of the aquaroll if you have one and get someone to support it for you. It might not be safe at the time but divorce over an awning. It is a bit of a pain trying to get the awning on and zpiped up. With the skirts all on and pegging down, it can take a fair bit of time.
