The 6 EHU pitches at Red Bank Farm all have views looking out to Morecambe Bay, so they usually pitch facing the view. The rest of the field is surrounded by hedge, so everyone else faces the field.
Elsewhere, I've seen folk pitch their tents facing the perimeter hedge. As there was no physical advantage (rectangular tents on rectangular pitches) and there were no views, other than the hedge itself, I can only presume it was a deliberate attempt to gain a little privacy, when sat outside the front of their tent, cooking, eating, and generally chilling out.

Make sure you can "escape" as well as anyone else, in case of fire/emergency, so plenty of room to get around your unit without tripping in the dark etc, and go for it.

90% of campers won't judge you, 5% will never see you again (so it doesn't matter), and 7% failed their maths GCSE's, so their opinion isn't worthy of consideration anyway!
