Brill and ty...this is kinda waht we presumed......but Phil did say he thought it would be easier to zip the awning on while the real camper bit was still low and un tentioned....then the whole thingy would be tentioned, lifted and erected together..?
We used to hook the poles on - zip the canvas onto the main unit - start at one end and put the poles up to vaguely the right height - zip the sides in - sort out the poles - then peg down.
I'm new to this forum but if I've followed the thread you had a Sloop 5 and you're doing away with this for a Pennine Pathfinder.
I agree the Sloop is challenging for 4 people (2 adults and 2 teenagers) but we opted for that after several years with a Cabanon Saturn trailer tent. The Cabanon gave us masses of room. But when it rained we felt misearable especially after nearly 2 weeks of rain in Switzerland. That prompted us to go for a campervan.
Oh all the comments about storage - ours lived in the garage between trips.
I think any form of camping/caravanning/trailer tenting/ foler camping etc.... is miserable in the rain. Our main gripe was our nippers are 4 and 6 and so will not sit still for long periods of time with a book etc while it chucks it down outside!
At least with our NEW PATHFINDER.....HURRAH!!!! ( sooooooo excited!!!) we have more room for the to spread out and get some colouring out or a board game......
Got a baptism of fire booked in Wales on the 6th August, lets hope it's the suncream we need not the wellies!

Hope that you love your camper as much as we love ours. We bought ours in 2001. Don't be put off by all the rain this year, although sun is obviously better a good time can be had if the sun isn't shining. There is so much room in the Pathfinder, with the awning on you will be cosy. We do not have underfloor heating so we keep a small fan heater under the seat to make it more cosy if it is a bit damp. It soon warms up.
We store lounger chairs in the space between the beds when it is folded down and put them up in the awning. Lie on those in the awning if the weather is wet, close your eyes and imagine the sun is shining. Works for me.
We have just come back from Scotland, had a lovely time. Can't wait to get away again.
Enjoy your holidays in your Pathfinder, I am sure you will.
Hope I'm not hijacking this thread.. But we're in the slightly the same position as the o/p.. Currently we've got a (very nice I'll say!) Trigano Oceane TT.. Nice cosy.. But not the easiest thing to put up when the eyes in the back/sides of your head are trying to watch where the supposedly tired 6/5/2yr olds are! *sigh* We saw a pathfinder when we were away in Wales last year, but didn't realise how damned simple they are to put up OR how bloody big they are when up!!... SOLD he says.. Just have to get rid of the TT first... (1 Oceane 315GL going cheapish! unless someone knows who does good trade-ins? as Castlecroft don't :( bah!!!)
Rob & Mel - Praying for some blessed sunshine here in soggy manchester!!!
Trade ins aren't easy against folding campers in our experience. We ended up buying the pathfinder and then putting the caravan up for sale in the february. Luckily it sold straight away but it was a gamble. We did better by buying the pathfinder late in the season and selling the caravan at the beginning. If you can afford it its best to buy just as the 2008 models are released and I doubt they will change the pathfinder this year as they seem to do conway one year pennine the next.

To save space inside the camper we store our loungers on the top of the back bed after folding and under the main cover. They can also be removed for use in the garden without opening the camper if required when you have visitors.
Been to Burcroft Camping today at Billing Aquadrome near Northampton, they deal in Trigano, so no probs with your trade in and had quite a few others on show.
However they had about 6/7 used pathfinders also on offer, erected from 3/6 K if that helps.
I dont think they would devalue your current model as they look like main dealers, and the Pennines were first class too...
This is Sal husband btw again....they have a website i think...
However they are featured in an advert in this months Camping and Caravanning Club Magazine.
