Yes our camper took a battering, and to be honest, someone put a link on here once of how the camper should be tied down in storms, it was actually a link to our video of our camper securely tied down, so we did know what we where doing, just so unfortunate this didnt manage to withstand the acts of God.
Sounds scary stuff - bet you were glad to keep your new canvas intact!
Our first ever trip out at start of last season we had stiff breezes off teh kent coast but unit remained solid if not a little disconcerting, and that was priobably only 20/30 mph winds I would guess
Hi Nicky certainly wasn't suggesting you were novices, just wondered if anything we could all learn from it really. We are heading towards south coast in April and actually I changed a site from West Fleet to one more inland as I did worry about winds at that time of year being a bit more exposed!

Hi Sunshine, no worries, just hope I manage to sort my camper. We use our FC when we go to the in laws, so we have no option other than to erect it there, and unfortunately its exposed but usually its calm, although we have had unexpected gusts but the storm straps usually held :(
Hi Nicky321 when I changed my canvas, awning, seating, curtains and mattresses
Keith
Hi Keith, if you dont mind me asking, did you purchase your canvas, seating, curtains etc from pennine? Did you pay delivery or are you able to pick the goods up from pennine?
Hi Nicky we did purchase from pennine and we did pay delivery we could have picked them up but we had them delivered, the canvas curtains, roof linings and awning came quite quickly but the mattresses and seating took 6 weeks and a few calls to pennine because they had changed suppliers and they had to be made I think.
The pullman cabin, awning, inner linings and curtains were £1500 inc vat
matresses and seating were £300 inc vat
delivery was £150 inc vat
please be aware we used a credit card for security of purchase and pennine charged us £37 surchage which given the amount we spent I thought was extortion, totalpaid £1987 seems a lot but bought the camper at a good price and we are planning on keeping it for a few years, however you have to look at what your camper is worth to you or to sell on as to whether it is worth the cost or whether to replace the camper
if you pay buy debit I dont think you pay the surcharge but we wanted a comeback in the event of loss, damage or wrong fitting hope this helps as said have not used the furnishings as yet as nothing wrong with originals we just thought when buying canvas and awning in brown it would look odd but to be honest only we see them and they look fine. Sorry for the length of the post just giving you cause for thought
I do reiterate that I still have the green awning canvas if anyone is interested
Do I take their offer £3500 less excess and run, when repairs will be £4,394? If we do the repairs ourself then we save £1425 which will leave us with roughly £200 and we can maybe replace oven, sink & carpet of a similar colour to the new canvas and upholstery when we have saved a little more and land lucky purchasing second hand. I know its not all necessary, but it was in a lovely condition before and I would like to make it of similar.
Personally I would try and argue them up to £3750 and sell (oe even p/ex?) the FC for spares and find another one in coming months. The awning itself will be worth a fair bit
Obviously if you are happy doing the work yourselves you could have a newly kitted out camper for not much money BUT you really would need to ensure the structure is sound (kitchen etc) otherwise you would be papering over the cracks so to speak
lets look at this logically nicky ,you take the £3500 and retain the camper .for that sum of money in the next couple of months keeping a careful eye on e/bay and on here you could buy one of equal status or better .you then still have your camper to strip down for spares everything in it is worth money and probably a lot more than you think if sold as spares .i.e wheels and tyres (3) probably £80 each ,cupboards circa £200 + ,mattresses if o.k £20 +,interior lights £10 each trailer lights £25 each ,inner tents (i would buy those) curtains, seat cushions ,table, fridge ,toilet ,trailer shell .every item on it in good repair is probably worth more combined than the value of the unit as a whole .i would think about it very carefully and as sunshine tours says ,you have to take into account unseen damage on your present trailer
Thanks for the replies, your right :, guess i'm panicking a bit that I may not manage to sell my old parts, may not get another f/c. Guess Im panickin because theres not a lot out there at the moment, but like you say, give it a couple of months and they probably start popping up.
yep normal people don't try to sell theres till easter approaches ,dealers will sell all year round at inflated prices ,we got ours last year on mothers day off of e/bay at a silly price ,all the others bidders must have been out having dinner with mum ..got more for our older countryman a couple of months later LOL don't panic
just a thought ,caseys camping at grosvenor garden centre chester has quite a lot of decent s/h units in might be worth a phone call or visit .
