we have wheels on our kitchen as well, two lots of back surgery half way to a third I'm not going to do any thing to speed that up!

and five nights in the one man tent!
Wheels it is then!
Been to three large camping places and nowhere had a day tent apart from the Coleman event shelter. I'm concerned this will be too big and time co aiming to put up.
Do any of you have any other suggestions for tents I can use for the cooker eating?
Is the Coleman that big?
Thanks again, as always I value your feedback.
There are two Coleman event shelters I believe, a 12' and a 14'.
TBH though I'd just do the trial run with the sun canopy and look for a day tent before France. The kitchen does normally sit inside the main awning as with most TTs and you might find that once you get used to this you won't feel you need a day tent after all.
The sunncamp holiday 240s is a nice little trailer. It is simple to use. One man setup for the tent and 2 man for the awning. It is a very cheap and cheerful tent.
Evening,
Back from our first trip and loved the whole TT experience and the Jametic is a fantastic little tent.
If anything it's a little small for us, Alison did warn us!!
My dilemma is now do I move to a larger one or do I get a day tent like Griff suggested?
The ease of the jametic was brilliant but it's just that little too small for the two of us, the two rug rats and a dog. won't have time to change before our trip to France next week but something to think about.
Thanks for all the advice and special thanks to Alison for looking after the tent so well.
I would suggest you live with it a while and really nail down what you do and don't need. Every unit across the camping spectrum has its pros and cons and it really is about finding your personal best fit. Getting organised to best use the space does take a bit of trial and error, and you might be able to manage better than you think on first impressions.
To the best of my knowledge the only bigger quick erect TT is the Trigano Olympe, and you don't see a lot of those, though I think Griff is planning to downsize before long. That might be worth looking at.
Otherwise you are going to be back to a longer pitching time for more space. If you add a Day or Utility tent you do keep the option of managing with less space for a short trip, or pitching it all for a longer one.
We quite liked the Raclet Moovea, that is a small quick erect 2 berth, but you can easily add an extra 2 berth bedroom annex, then a full traditional awning if you need it. The downside was a lack of storage space. The Combi Camp is brilliant in its flexibility, and I can pitch it solo, but a full pitch is going to take longer, and whilst it probably is bigger over all it has separate areas rather than one big living space, and it was the most expensive so far! The Holkampers are gorgeous, the Flyer might be big enough for you, but they are a lot of money. One of the Camplet models takes an extra awning, that might be something to consider, but again they aren't cheap. Then there's all the traditional trailer tents and folding campers to consider, but anything with a traditional framed awning is going to take longer to pitch, although I think I would still choose that as lighter work than a big steel poled tunnel.
The Raclet Safari is big and quick to erect, worth a look if you go down that route.

Alison is correct that we will be selling our Olypme at the end of the season only because our youngest son will be 18 next year and intends to go away with his friends as such the Olympe is too big for two people. We will be buying a Trigano Alpha.
The Olympe will go on sale on here, www.trailertentforums.co.uk and Ebay. Just need to decide on price, which will include the wheels on the kitchen unit, removable front box and central cabin bed kit.
Alison as you have sold the Jametic you can now change your outfit in your profile to Combi Camp
I'd forgotten about that, thank you Griff, all done!
Nick, how long does your Safari take? Do you use it for weekends? I only have experience of the quick erect models.
I've had a bit of a browse, and it looks like the Raclet Moovea has been replaced with the Panama, you wouldn't be able to get a second hand one, but it might be worth looking at. There are videos Here.
Over the years we've had a few occasions where we've arrived late and have found even the Camplet and Jametic stressful to pitch, pegging it on a dark wet Friday night isn't a lot of fun! However by the time we bought the Jametic weekend opportunities were so infrequent that it was a worthwhile trade against the speed of pitching for longer stays. If you do plan to do weekends something like Trigano Alpha, Combi Camp, or the Raclet Panama which go up very quickly with some living space and would allow you to extend in the morning might be worth looking into, but they do cost more.
Hi Alison, We can get the cabin up in about 5 minutes and then the awning with ZIG takes about 20 minutes. Dependant on wind conditions you can get away with only 4 pegs as it is all self supporting - we have done one night with just 4 pegs.
We only got the Safari in May so not had a chance to do any weekends in it yet - the one night was in the garden. We have done 9 nights in it and we truly love the layout, comfort, warmth and space. following on from our week away we fully intend to use it for weekends as it only takes a few minute longer to put up than our weekend tent and a LOT more comfortable!
