Not heard of these universal canopies, how do they attach or do they just overlap etc, and how much are they.

The Universal ones tie onto the front of your own awning...on my Conway Camargue and similar with stub canopies, there`s D-rings sewn at the front top corners and on the apex for this purpose. They`re made by....TVS, of course! £125 currently, plus postage.
Someone else here (Welshmark) who also owned a Camargue bought one last year and posted a pix of his complete outfit on his profile. I saved the pix, so I`ll put it up on mine for a wee while so you can see it. He said it matched the `89 Camargue colours exactly!

I suppose ours is "I love the smell of canvas in the morning"

You bet!! on our first trip out this year , there was nothing better than that smell.  It was great!!
