Coming back from Somerset on Saturday going on A371 through Cheddar
a car pulled out from a line of parked cars and collided head on with the car in front of me.
we managed to stop in time I put my hazzard lights on stopped the car and helped the lady out of the car in front as she had managed to get through the air bags we made her as comfortable as possible.
the emergency services had been called we managed to remove the battery leads on both cars.
the man in the car that had pulled out was removed from his car and given heart massage and mouth to mouth but died on the pavement in front of us.
I then spent almost an hour giving statements in Cheddar police station.
I was a bit on edge after this but thank god we had a safe journe from then on
Glad you were Okay at least. And good for you that you were able to offer assistance. You can only do your best in these sort of situations...if you`re not a doctor or trained paramedic with a full ambulance of equipment, there is only so much you can do and it seems like you did all of it. Well done, and take comfort in that.
Must have been a really horrible thing to see. Glad the lady is more or less ok, but sorry of the man that died. Just goes to show, "Better late than never"!
with the compensation society that we now live in, I hope that I don't come across a situation like johns, to help could cost £'s, to not help could cost a life!
unfortunately this was the second accident at this spot in two days, previous night was a young drunk driver, collided with two young girls in their car, one sustained not too serious head cuts, the other sustained a fractured pelvis, there are usually just little bumps at this junction, and occaisionally the bad one not very common i`m glad to say, this is no more that 150 mts from where we live, though saturdays we missed as we were wembley bound
------------- That's not a dog....... That's a Schnauzer
I am sorry about your dreadfull experience. I am a nurse and even in a hospital with all equipment it is very difficult to resucitate a person succesfully. You did what you could which is all anyone can ask.
