Hi

We are planning our summer holiday and wondered if anyone had fitted flyscreen curtains or something similar to their Pennine Sterling F/C.

Also, does anyone use a plug in bug repellent ?   Are they any good ?

I have checked with Pennine but they do not seem to cater for this.

Any recommendations would be a great help.

Thanks

Oaksoft

We used clearlite lamps for the awning and outside table and chairs in Scotland and France last year.  I think they helped as we didn't have much of a problem with bugs.  They burn citronella oil.

We've got a couple of those ultraviolet lamps that attract bugs then electrocutes them. Works great

In France we use a plug in bug repellant, one of the ones you put the big blue tablet in and it warms up and gives off some sort of vapour which kills mozzies.  This works brilliantly for making sure there are no mozzies inside before you go to bed.  I would not be happy being inside while it is on though or sleeping with it on.  Usually about an hour before we are going inside for the night I go in and switch it on and zip up all doors and windows.  We then have a wee walk or read or game of cards in the awning while it does its business.  I then switch it off before we go and clean our teeth etc so that the fumes have time to disperse before we go inside.  It works well and we have never been bitten inside yet.  In the awning we use citronella candles and I always use 'original source lemon and tea tree' shower gel which leaves a faintly lemon scent on your skin which I am convinced keeps them at bay too.

I always use citronela tea lights, they are cheap and you can leave one burning in a jam jar in the camper while you sit outside in the awning with another.Mind you from head to foot we always get bitten! Seriously though the tea lights work a treat.
