Hi, have read prevoius posts but still confused Have just brought an extendable aerial pole and tv aerial.Where is the best place to fix it on my conway cruiser FC. Can it be attached to the awning????
darn ,we use a self standing one so thats my suggestions exhausted
i got a bit of ply ,8" of tube slightly wider than the tv pole ,sawed 4 slots 2" down from one end then splayed those bits out and drilled and screwed them to the board.
4 holes in the board allow tent pegs to hold it firm to the ground and the tv pole simply drops in .
if its windy a couple of guys hold it rock solid
I purchased a mast which fitted to the jockey wheel using two square tubes with a C shaped clamp either end. You fit both tubes to the jockey wheel 8" or so apart then the mast fits the other end with another two C clamps. This is designed for a caravan so I made two new tubes 24" long and it now clears the canvas. Used it in very high winds, no problems, rock solid. Purchased the arial and mast kit from Towsure, made the two extended tubes myself.
As they are starting switching of analogue signal from the end of this year , I went the other way brought a sat dish and lnb for £9.00 of ebay and a folding work light tripod from wicks £24.00 and you get the floodlight as well , sytem works great and picture perfect , plus by using our own sky box get all the channels ,
Must agree about the sat dish , I fit my dish to an old camera tripod inside the awning a perfect picture every time,another bonus is that sat kits have become cheap less than £50 for a portable set up, Much better than faffing about with aerials.
We bought a screw in to the ground fitting (like for dogs but with a "hole" to stick the mast in) You can screw onto the side of the camper a clamp just as caravans do but I don't want holes in my baby. Mostly though we just lay the aerial on top of the bedroom inner tent. The canvas doesn't block the signal in the way a metal caravan does.

and what type of aerial do use use then Jan and is the sig good.
Thanks for all your posts hubby is going to make something that clamps to the jockey wheel and then a pole under the bed leading to the mast.As for getting a satelite dish ok but dont run on the new sky+ box so will be taking the trusty freeview box
We used a freeview box this season, brilliant picture and all the channels everytime (4 trips) in East Anglia using our arial set-up. Designed for digital in low gain areas.
