hello, the scoundrels are my children 2 years and 8 months. We are folding our trigano ranger and there seems to be some pretty horrific stains on the upholstery, drinks spilled and have turned black. It says not to use detergent. Could any one please send me any pearls of wisdom and as we are folding it down for the winter.

Thanks

Amanda ( all stressed out and no-one to choke)

Its important not to get detergent on the canvas as its stops it being water proof. The canvas lies on the upholstery when packed. I would bring the cushions inside and clean them well once rinsed off and dry they can go back out. We used cheap throws wrapped around the seat cushions when ours were small.

Feed them in the awning. I have a 100% cast iron rule of no food in the upper section of the TT, and no shes either. It's not just the greasy stains, its agains crumbs and mice.

More difficult to do this in a FC though I suppose, so I would hoover and wash every crevice to get crumbs out then take the cushions indoors for the winter. Use any upholstery foam or such, but make sure you rinse the residue out. Then make or get made a set of water-resistant (poly/nylon or similar) covers for the cushions, that you can take off and wash when necessary.

Picnic blankets with a waterproof backing are good to wrap round the seat cushions and are bound to be on offer after our wonderful summer.

Honestly  I have two small kids as well

(it's not just adult site campers that us this reference)

Sorry Val, you can't ban shes from anywhere nowadays. Haven't you heard about the Sexual Discrimination Act?

use fabsil canvas cleaner , which is pure soap , follow the instructions on the container, i would not use anything else other than water or a approved canvas cleaner ! otherwise you will have to reproof the canvas.
