What would be a reasonable price for an older trailer tent to try it out. I'm up for having a trailer tent as i've used one before but OH not sure so he wants to try a cheap one before we make an expensive mistake (his words not mine)
Our first trailer tent we bought from a friend for £180. It also came with some equipment, though the rest we had to buy. It was about 30 years old, but did us well for a couple of years, before giving up the ghost. After that we bought a dome tent, before biting the bullet and getting a brand new Raclet Marathon, which we had for about 3 years. Now we have a folding camper and it's great. Have you considered a folding camper? You may eventually end up there anyway!!
Dont you know anyone who has one. Maybe they'd let you use it for a weekend. That way no cash is lost if you dont like it. Mind you, once you try it, your hooked.
We have jut got back from our 1st camping weekend as a family (me and dh and 2 dogs stayed in Scotland for a week in the tt with the kids sleeping in a static caravan with my parents) and our tt is 4.2m x 4m. We had 4 kids with us and 2 dogs. We had the kitchen outside with one table in the tent part and our 2 chairs with picnic rugs on the floor for the kids to sit on or they could sit in the trailer where there is another table. We also had a dog cage in the tent part. The luggage was stored under the trailer and boxes of food under the table. The kids spread themselves out so it wasn't very tidy but we all managed fine. We are going away for weekends in it next year and a 2 week holiday and have no qualms about doing so.
I would recommend a tt to anyone. Good Luck and let me know what tt you choose. Maybe we will see you on site someday!
our Pennine Pullman has an annex and full skirts where a pup tent can be added at one end if required and there's bag's of room in it when the awning's up, don't always have to put it up(no pegging then ) what ever you get try an get some extras cos it soon add's up,bought ours for £1200 off Ebay,we've had 3 outings this yr with a few more to come hopefully, then plenty next yr.
Hi ukbull and easycamp,Iv'e still got my Raclet trailer tent for sale at a bargain price of £300.
I think it's a good starting tent ,very cheap but still good design and modern looking.
Canvas in good condition, all innertents included. Some good features with this tent,I do like the pockets suplied on the inner tents ,for all your bits and bobs.Even one in the sleeping compartment, which was very handy last thing at night,as I take my earings off last thing.A womans thing I think.Could also be handy for your loose change.
I did also like the windows,a small thing I know but you notice these things upon use.I also liked the curtain designs, well made I thought.with toggels to hold in place.
Iv'e had a few awnings and the way the curtains fit etc, quite important, makes all the difference.
Comfortable beds too ,nice size, not small.I also put a blow up double bed settee in the awning ,which became a bed for a couple or 2 children at night,no need for underbed tents,I never really liked the underbed tent idea myself.
Still for sale but price may go up in the spring as I will have to take canvas off and put away for winter,a bit of work involved, will probably ask more then if this dosn't sell now.
I have had some interest but they have all been the Northern area of england and I'm in the south, don't know why this should be,it's just the way it's worked out.
By the way Easycamp, thanks for plugging my Trailer tent,I have noticed. It will sell I'm sure but maybe nows not the right time.
