I think the older Dandys actually didnt have a kitchen unit like we have in the newer ones. Saw a green one once with one of those camping kitchens in the awning.------------- No, really?!

Hi Kimmie, mines a 1980 Dandy and it does have a kitchen unit. I'm new to this but all the ones I've seen do have one - including ones older than mine.------------- Terry

Could be the people who owned the one I saw preferred to use a free standing unit. All a case of preference. We don't use our sink - always go to pot wash. Tempted to remove the sink and replace with worktop.------------- No, really?!

I've yet to use my Dandy so I'll have to work it out as I go. Going to replace all the water hoses though - need a cuppa on a regular basis so need plenty of water!------------- Terry

Hi Gerald - must admit its a habit that's developed more since moving North (originally a Londoner). I always liked tea but now I drink more of it!------------- Terry

I think if it is a green dandy it is from the 70's. You would need the serial number to be sure.. Julian is the expert in this he may be along... Green Dandys I think are some of the earliest.. the thing is with Dandys they do not die.... they go on forever!

Hi there
Jenny is almost right. Late 60's early 70's. They were made in a choice of FOUR colours!! The earlier ones were made with cupboards at the "kitchen end", but no folding arrangement, so they did not have the sink and cooker arrangement we know today. (I used to own a 1963 model).
Pre 1972 (I think,) you will not find a chassis number. And quite a few of the later ones lacked a number too. Sometimes never had one, and sometimes been removed during repairs.
Is it made of ply wood (the body) or some other material? and how thick are the pull out bars that support the legs? The early ones had much heavier bars.
Any help?? enjoy your Dandy I had great fun in my old blue one

Hi all,its sounds as if there will be no new Dandy's, if Riva have gone 'belly up', anybody wanting parts of winterising etc, will have to go elsewhere.
Maybe it will make the older ones more sought after, now that the weather is becoming more of a lottery.
Old Dandy's never die, Dandy makers do!!!!!!
