What's your weather like, our is very windy hail and rain, tipical easter. We were going away but cancelled as we gave someone our spare wheel, but could not replace ours on time.
wet, windy and 10cm of snow, yeah right what do the weather forcasters do all day they said we could have up to 10cm we have less then 0.lol. and not looking to good either
No sign of the snow here either yet, just a few flurries. It is windy, but not as bad as yesterday. We managed to get our tt up this morning - yipee. She has survived the winter well, not a sign of damp etc. Managed a few jobs before we got too cold and had to put her away again. Can't wait till we manage a weekend away!
Went to Anglesey on Thursday was blowing a gale all night thought it was going to wreck the camper so we decided to come home Friday morning didn`t fancy another sleepless night listening to the canvas flapping about .Apart from people who were in caravans there was also a Dandy camper as well which looked alot more comfortable than our camper in the wind as the sides of it never moved unlike ours.Saying that it was the worst weather we have experienced in 3 seasons .Going to leave it till end of April for our next trip ,hopefully better weather by then and the kids may have forgiven me dragging them out of our warm cosy home to a windswept campsite.
.........Alan...........
Our weather isn't too bad here now - it has been windy though so we had an forced postponement to our trip. we were due to go to Ireland on Friday but the ferry was not able to sail so it was postponed until tomorrow. Off at 7am tomorrow and we will be in the highest village in Ireland ( roundwood) I'm told by MIL to bring plenty of clothes etc as is freezing. We are taking camper as kids want to camp and we think it will be warmer in 'Wendy' with the heaters on than in MIL non central heated house ! We are also planning a couple of days on a site in the North of Ireland so it might be warmer there. wish us luck! Nina x
ps Ann/Gerald don't go buying anything new in the week I'm away!!!
It's very windy here and we have had a few snow flurrys but not a lot and we had hail stones yesterday.
Hope those who are away on the 1st Pennine owners club meet of the year are all ok. We didn't go due to other commitments and it's a bit of a trek from us. Quite glad now that we stayed at home , it's the high winds that would worry me,
Our has been atrocious though it is warmer now and just a massive melt. But this afternoon we got caught in a town about 12 miles away after a horrendous shower of sleet and hail that laid a 3 inch coating of ice everywhere.
We had gone to pick up no1 daughter and grandson to visit no2 daughter about 60 miles away. So we turned back, phoned our apologies dropped No1 and chip off and started back home. We found NO traction on one hill so went back for a cup of tea and started out by a different route an hour later.
Two hours later we sat and recovered over a cup of tea, homesafe after what is normally a 20 minute journey, and recounted the idiot motorists we had experienced today. Like the Ford Focus towing a Compass caravan who insisted on following us for several miles a few feet from our rear bumper despite the solid slow moving traffic in front of us.
At one point he vanished, obviously because of a lack of traction but unfortunately he got going again and was soon up my back. Eventually he overtook on a bad bend and further up the road his caravan slid off on to the verge pulling the car with it. That ended their holiday.
Then there was 4 wheel drive man who could go faster than us lesser mortals and he eventually passed on a very bad spot causing oncoming cars to have to avoid him. Unfortunately he forgot that 4 wheel drive keeps you moving longer and faster than 2 wheels but it is stopping that is important and that is no better. He lost it completely on a bend and took a section of fence and hedge out and ended up in the field with steam gushing from his radiator.
when people complain about people towing caravans in the summer I think that they are just spoil sports but a friend set off with his family for a trip north with his van on thursday even though the forcast was for terrible weather. I think this behaviour as well as tailgating in bad weather just piles on the £££ to everyones insurance premiums.
Or am I just a killjoy.as we never really get much bad snow down here
We had a lot of weather on the pennine rally. We pitched in a gale, closely followed by hail, sleet more gales and four inches of snow. However we had a great time and were much warmer than expected. As an added bonus we all packed up in the dry this morning (well it was dry at 11 hope Lisa etc got packed up before it rained).
------------- Good friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget.
Well we've just returned from a weekend at Grin Low in Buxton, it was really cold and windy, but once it snowed the wind dropped. We got plenty of snow for Sunday morning and as I'd taken the sledge the kids and the grown ups had a great time sledging all morning. It was our first time camping in these conditions, but we were fine, cosy in good sleeping bags and a large oil filled radiator for heating ( this also dried all the wet gloves and socks! ). The dog woke us at 6.45 this morning, so we were up and packed away dry by 10.00a.m. I'm so glad we went and didn't let the weather forecast put us off.
