Can any one out there help

We have brought our new baby 

a rapido orline folding caravan

our problem is that the garage where she will live

is onlt 3 " wider than the unit so its a real tight  job getting her in

also never owned a folding caravan before any tips on how to look after her

its a bit like pushing an elephant in to a match box   LOL!

Could you make up some sort of groove for your jockey wheel to fit into? Something that was wider out front of the garage and which would then narrow down so that the jocket wheel was guided down the centre of the garage.

Plus padding the sides of the garage of course.

sounds quite similar to what we have with our Pennine Sterling, it is a very tight fit and takes both of us to pull her out, and put her away, just so each of us can watch both sides at once.

the obvious answer is very carefully, but there are one or two ideas above that look like they might be worth investigating

If you fit an anchor point or eye on the wall opposite the garage door and a winch to the towball or a frame you can wind the trailer in single handed and steer at the same time if necessary.  

You should not need to watch both sides. Knowing the unit is 3 ins narrower than the opening if you allow 1 in on one side and keep it square you will have 2 ins the other side.

make two wedges to fit the ridge at the door threshold so the tyres run up smoothly and you can also mark the drive to ensure accurate placement.

If you later replace the garage door with a frameless auto' one like the roller shutter doors you will add 6 ins to the opening and a few thousand to the price of the house but they are about £1000 to have fitted.

Hi Vince and Jan, have a look at the Purpleline Hitchdrive - it might be just the job for a concrete drive like yours - it replaces the jockey wheel and you wind a handle to drive your little caravan (sorry I didn't see it due to the rain) slowly and carefully in and out of your garage. They are quite expensive new but are just as good second hand and readly available (many people buy them thinking they will park their big caravan in a muddy field - they won't so they soon sell them).
