Hi peeps, is there any other conway cornich dl owners on the site. We have just acquired one and just wondered what they are like, re towing, accommodation, etc.

Most Conways are much of a muchness, especially the older ones. Mostly Conway just varied the colour and design of the awnings, stuck in one less (or more) undertent and/or a sun canopy and rebadged it.

I've got a 1989 Carmargue DL (see profile pix) and it tows very easily. It's the standard two double bedded trailer arrangement with two underbed areas, both of which I have underbed tents for. We have the optional zip in extension to the awning ..this came with the TT when I bought it. But the sun canopy is new, made of original Conway canvas by Tent Valeting Services (No1 source of older Conway spares) and bought from there last year.

You might be interested in a link to the original Conway catalogues, where you can read up on the specs of your TT. (You'll find the year model on the trailer plate.) Also  there's a Conway Owners Club forum.

Hi another 12, we started off with a 1987 Corniche, as we were new to TTs we found it a bit of a struggle to put the awning up, but once up, the space given by the large awning is great, especially if you have a family. As with us, it was only the 2 of us, it was a bit too large. The main reason that we changed, was because we do not have anywhere to dry the canvas if it was wet when it came time to go home. The beds are very comfortable, we had Conway mattresses, I found that an airbed didnt fit the bed inner properly. One word of advice, when putting the awning up, or down, there is a hole, where a point bit of the frame pole goes through, make sure that you do not drag the canvas over this, always lift it clear, last year when we were away with the TT group (we were the only TT with a dozen or so caravans) somebody that had never had a TT tried to help us put ours away, as it was wet and windy, she didn't know about the spike, and pulled the canvas, it I just heard it rip, and we were left with a 6" tear. It was an awful end to a very wet weekend. It took 4days to dry the awning in our spare room, and as we had packed the main unit wet, even though we managed to open it the next day, there was staining on the bed compartments, off the bed boards.

That is when we decided that the Dandy was for us, but if you have space to dry it out, the Corniche is a really good TT.

Hope you enjoy beautiful weather, and great camping.

                                     Ann
