We toured Scotland in our pathfinder 2 years ago in our Pathfinder for Two weeks and in that time we set up at 5 sites up the west coast then down the east coast awning and all, we had a brilliant time. Over the years we have been through some very rough weather and the Pathfinder has with stood everything thrown at it.I have never slackened the canvas that woud drive me crazy it would be like a foresale flapping in the wind.We use a heavy duty strap to hold the awning down and I all ways have spare guy ropes to secure the canvas in heavy winds.I have even secured the awning frame internally as a fail safe in very heavy weather. The key is to have plenty pegs and guy ropes at hand, the pathfinder is built to withstand these conditions and we have been really impressed as to how they stand up to the rough weather.
