I am a single female foster carer and regularly take my charge(s) camping. I've always felt very safe and confident, ensuring I use campsites which cme recommended or have good reviews. I ask to be situated nr. toilet blocks which can be noisy but is useful for night time loo needs and often means there's an outside light on throughout the night which helps the feeling of being safe.

We also take a VERY heavy torch!

It us a truth universally acknowledged that camping is fun.

Aw, thanks ladies.

Nice to know others worry/take precautions/go prepared too.  I'm sure my confidence will grow with practise, and I'll have my son with me on future trips.  I'm booked onto C&CC sites and Mill Farm in Somerset, which was recommended to me.  At the end of my 4th trip I'll make a decision to keep the trailer tent or sell it and buy a caravan.

It's funny really, as I've always been confident and grounded about most things, so I was surprised at my reaction.  Here's hoping I can learn to relax, as I love the outdoors.

Thanks again everyone!
