As we are new to all this, I have just been searching for tips and came across this one, we have problems with the ends on the rods as well so also came up with the idea of curtain wire. Actually cut a length but hubby thought it would pull too much on the head liner so I had to give up.
Think I will try again, we are a rod short anyway and can't put any up in the washroom. Like the idea of attaching to the poles. Are there any holes like for the bedroom wires?
we have recently removed the curtain wires, and gone back to using the poles, as I was getting a bit fed up with looking at crumpled curtains.
But, reading this thread, it seems we had hung the wires wrongly in the first place, as I had secured them to the upright poles either side of the windows - never gave hooking them onto the loops a thought!
------------- Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional
We use curtain wires in the cabin of our Pathfinder, not onto the liner but on the upright poles, through the holes near the top.By making new wider, lined curtains it is lots warmer and goes around the bedroom pods easily. [ like extending the roof lining to the panel level ] .We srill use poles in the awning but wrap elastic bands around the ends to stop them slipping off loops.
I even have the new Pennine- why oh why do they come with curtain poles?! The first thing that I did was put net curtain wires in. Fantastic! Definately put them on the main support frame and then through the lops etc of the roof liner. You cannot tell the difference when up whether you have used wires or rods. The only difference is being able to fold as long as it is dry with the wires and curtains in place-much much quicker and labour saving (unless you like faffing with curtains- that is!)
I have gone back to using the rods, we used to use net wire on our old Pullman but found that the curtains ended up too creased which I hated. No faffing with the curtains on rods though, just a case of unhooking the rods (leaving the curtains on them) and lying them flat on one of the beds before strapping the mattresses down.
I have tried that but preferred the wires. If memory serves me correct I think on the Pathfinder the curtains were cotton? The new ones (white!) are made more of polyester i think and don't suffer creasing quite so much. Yes they do wash beautufully (thank god!)
