We are planning sailing from Harwich next summer (yes already planning 2009 hols!)
Dont really want to go on the overnight ferry crossing, my young boys love the ferry journeys, and I dont relish trying to persuade a grumpy 3 and 6 year old to wake up at 10 to climb the stairs to sleep! So we are now thinking of day ferry. My option would be to leave house at 2am to make it there but hubby wants to stay overnight somewhere near!
Has anyone been brave enough to leave their car hitched to TT overnight, it would probably be a Travelodge or somewhere similar.
Thanks ------------- Taffy

we have a heavy duty chain welded to ours with a lock that fits under the car near the towbar, and a hitch lock over the hitch,
ya could also remove a wheel, and lock it in the car ....!

If ours is left anywhere there is a hitchlock and wheelclamp on it.
I have heard tales of insurance not being valid if a wheel is removed, as a wheelclamp should be fitted.

yeah we have, we used the wheel clamps etc and made sure that the hotel had a secure car park and cctv. When we arrived at the hotel it had a large locked gate and we had to use an intercom to get on and off the car park quite impressed!!

Hi Taffy,
We've stopped at Travelodges a few times. We always make sure we park in a very well lit spot, near cameras if possible. As the other replies say, a wheel-clamp is a good idea too. I must admit to feeling a bit nervous as we walked off into the hotel, but all was ok. Have fun with your planning!
