Just went away for a few days got everything out including the awning canvas which we thought was dry enough to put away, unpacked it and one half is covered in mildew god we are so peed off, gonna try the dettol mould remover, has anyone tried it? cant believe it we tried so hard to look after our baby even paying £32.00 a month to garage it and it repays us this way, like a mardy teenager lol
We have used Dettol Mould and Mildew (or Mildred as OH calls it) Remover on a lot of fabric items, from high chairs, pushchairs, travel cots, clothing and have not had a problem, it has removed the mould and mildew quickly with no trace and no discolouration. I would think you would have to re-proof the awning afterwards though.
I would try brushing it and washing it first. Then a dilute milton solution followed by washing and only if that didn't work would I use dettol. I've used it in the bathroom and it smells really strong.
------------- Good friends are hard to find, difficult to leave and impossible to forget.
Hi we have a Damon camplite pop up trailer from America we had a very bad mildew problem we sorted it with the Dettol stuff brilliant result however if you do use this clean any zips straight away as if left it will gum up the zippers we now hve no mildew but about 5 zips that are busted . mum in law fixing them thank god.
apparently letting the sunlight get to the canvas kills the mildew spores, we were told not to use a cleaner as it strips the waterproofing. just let it sit in the sun.(if we get any).
